Nitro Drifter?
Who makes a Nitro Drift car? Or can i use any blacktop car and put on drift tires?
|
RE: Nitro Drifter?
I can't be of much help on this one but in Japan, they make a drift conversion kit for the HPI RS4 3 SS and it moves the engine and most of the weight up front so the back will slide easier.

RE: Nitro Drifter?
i wouldnt recommend drifting a nitro, electrics are the best for this matter, since you can overheat and over-rev you engine causing internal damages,,not a good idea[:'(]

RE: Nitro Drifter?
Yeah i was just gonna say this, with drifting R/C cars (well...the ones that i've driven) you steer with the throttle, but use the steering to line up the drift.
Having constant wide open throttle on a nitro engine, especially under no load, is a recipe for a seize or snapped conrod.....and its too damn loud, fuel consumption would be high. The smoothe power of an electric motor is better suited to drifting IMO |
RE: Nitro Drifter?
i drift with a nitro rs4 3 ss and my car is perfect for drifting..as long as you run it a little leaner then normal and you have plenty of air coming form all directions your car will be fine...i use rubber x pattern tires all the way around with 1.5 degrees of negative camber in the rear..thats all i use as far as drifting setup...everyonce in a while i add spring spacers in the rear just for a little extra slide...but i usually drift at night when the air and pavement are nice and cool...i have no problems at all except excessive inner rear tire wear:)

RE: Nitro Drifter?
you mean keep it a little RICH,not lean, haha.lean would be more air than fuel.....rich,or fat,is more fuel than air which will keep temps down.
|
RE: Nitro Drifter?
lol yea i mean RICH..running it rich will mean more fuel which means cooler temps..lean would destroy a motor fast...damn..thats the second time i confused rich and lean without even thinking about it..
|
RE: Nitro Drifter?
Don't worry,it still confuses me a little but mostly when I adjust needles.I gotta think Right=Rich and do the opposite or I just think about it too much....needles and nitro rule, haha.

RE: Nitro Drifter?
yea..ive never messed up rich or lean when it comes to tuning..i always mess it up when on the computer though..when tuning i always think right means less fuel into the motor and left means more..anyways id recommend a hpi rs4 3 evo rtr or a rs4 3 ss kit for a nitro drift car..they are about 300 bucks and perfect for bashing/drifting...and most local hobby shops carry hopups/replacement parts for them
