micro drifting
can i drift a micro street force? if so what would i use on the tires
|
RE: micro drifting
From what I am hearing and seeing as long as it is 4wd and has ABS/PVC tires it will.... "It can" that is, I think the rest is up to skill level. But with a car that small you might be better off with some eletrical tape :D i am sure there are peeps here that know better than me.

RE: micro drifting
i have a micro rs4, and i can drift great! well the car can drift great, i need to learn some more, lol. i have a tuned 370 motor btw, but you can drift with the stock one. i made a set of pcv tires, and they work great. if you use electrical tape you cant use it for long if you are drifting on pavement. here is a vid i made of me drifting my mrs4: http://www.rcpics.net/view_single.php?medid=39938 enjoy!

RE: micro drifting
Thanks for the RS4 vid. What size PVC pipe did you use to make your wheels and how much work is involved in getting them sized properly?
Thanks! ~Dan |
RE: micro drifting
how can i made drift tires or weels
|
RE: micro drifting
you have to get 1 inch inner diameter pvc (from any hardware store), and lathe or dremal(hard to do) it out untill it fits on the micro wheel. then just cut to length. i think my OD(outer diamter) on my micro rs4 wheels are just a hair under 1 1/18th inch. it takes a pretty steady hand and some luck to get the inside round if you are using a dremal. it takes all of about 5 mins to do it in a machine shop (and it turns out much better). hope that helps. if you have any more questions, just ask.

RE: micro drifting
I use tape on my MSF for now... It works well.. Not as good on pavement because it gets too much traction and is soon at top speed... I mainly drift on tile or a smooth concrete... It does fine for me...
|
RE: micro drifting
i drift on semi rough concrete so i need the pvc. i tried tape, but it got to messy for me.

RE: micro drifting
I wish I had an XRAY M18 so I could drift around the kitchen and family room, that would be awesome (we have gard wood floors all down stairs, except for the office).
Also, the vid doesn't work for me, it just plays music; I'm using Windows Media Player. |
RE: micro drifting
you have to get divx. if you play it with windows media player, it will not work. i would recomend www.bsplayer.com it is a VERY good player for all kinds of media. enjoy and hope it works.

Heres my HPI micro drifter. |
RE: micro drifting
i got a 1inch pvc, and i dont have a dremal or a lathe! shuld i get the next higher size of pvc and just fill it in w/ hot glue or marinetex? do the wheels ever need to be replaced? or shuld i just put the pvc over the tires? thanks.
|
RE: micro drifting
I woulden't recomend putting the PVC over the tires. If you don't have anything to machine it with, then just try the next higher size. I haven't tried that size, so I don't know how it will fit. Make sure it is concentric. It will take you a long time to wear out a set of PVC tires.
|
RE: micro drifting
i got the next higher size, i just had to fill the gap w/ some ducktape. it works good, im going to go to school and ask my shop teacher to lathe it for me:).. tell u how it comes out
|
RE: micro drifting
My shop teahcer was the one who lathed them for me. Its not very hard. Tell us how they work.
|
RE: micro drifting

RE: micro drifting
RC Driver had a little article about Micro drifting like a year ago. Seems like they got the best results by making tires out of 35mm film canisters. Can't remember if the rings slide over the wheels or the tires though.

RE: micro drifting
i wana make dift tires for a micro, what is the easiest way to make them, and if i want to use a dremmel do i use a jig or just eye it? thanks
|
RE: micro drifting
If you run it indoors, you can pickup a set of new wheels (or use some spare ones from the parts tree) and cut of the lip (where you glue your tires) and that will work... but only for indoors, as you'll have maybe 2mm clearance from lower chassis to floor. I used to do that for awhile. Haven't tried anything else since.
