Nitro Drift D1- SPEC, Yokomo Drifter ( VIDEO TOO )

For those who haven't yet seen it: This is yokomo's nitro drifter, it uses their single wide band drift wheels, and from what i have heard the gt-4 rtr chassis.

No problem, it is pretty cool looking when it drifts. I wonder what the electric drifters will say about this one since it is closer to their style of drifting.

They will still complain and say, "eat my voltage!"

Not too bad if you can keep it rich and not go w.o.t. the whole time. Some people say you have to lean it out all the way to have more torque, which would be risking a premature rebuild.

Yeah, stay away from wot and keep it rich. I re-tuned mine such that its richer on the top end, and then I leaned-out the low so it could still get good transitional power. I run my idle pretty high when drift tuned. (For you newbies, always tune in that order: high for temp, low for transition, and then idle). I also set my two speed to kick at a low speed so I can use it to initiate drifts. Made the whole deal a lot more fun. I can't do THAT with my electric drifter! I check my compression about every 4 or 5 tanks, and its stayed about the same, so the engine is holding up just fine. Just be careful not to over-rev (you'll snap the crank) and keep the temps down.

Thats an excellent copy of Taniguchi's car (gotta love officially licensed products). HKS actually retired that car from competition at the end of the Fontana D1 usa vs japan event last month. This year he'll be drifting an Altezza. I'd prefer a copy of Kazama's S15, or better yet a zenki S14 body like my drift car (1:1). THAT would make my day.

that is one sweet car. is quite expensive but....... i love the body and the rims on that thing. a question. is it just the way the pic is taken or is the front wheel smaller than the back? is just looks like it in a couple of the pics. i actually watched the video a couple weeks ago and saw that thing go and man is it sweet when it flies past :)

Hey bud, Those are just yokomo's msrp, there's one on e b a y for 350 right now to give you an idea of real pricing.

Yeah S.A.E.W.O.T, it's pretty sick, i am not too interested in it though because yokomo's previous drift wheels wore out rather quickly and i can't see these new ones lasting much longer.

what happens when drift tires ware out?... like don't they all ready have next 2 no grip?

Well the yokomo's are 2 pieces, there's a hard rubber tire, and some plastic inserts you put in the tire groove. They're replacable, but not cost effect for how long they last.

For a rtr with the drift body, wheels, and drift tires it's a decent price. I don't know what radios and servos yokomo uses, they're usually the weak point of rtr rigs. Has anyone seen chassis pics of this car yet? Rumors said it was their gt-4 rtr, which seems about right because they needed to clean their warehouse of them.

That's messed up...they're giving us their leftovers...[sm=punching.gif]

But in all seriousness, this is a good thing to promote RC drifting (Nitro drifting in particular) as we should see more companies developing drift specific kits. I'd like to see a high-end drift kit with a decent engine and hop-up parts. I would expect HPI is next in line as their Stage D kit will probably turn into a full kit.

My thoughts exactly, a rtr stage d drifter would be a really smart move. What would really kick is if they made a stage d kit with all of the stuff the ss kit has but with the stage d chassis conversion and the rx7, or s15 body. [X(]

i suppose for a full kit that is quite good. i never really thought of it that way. i think every company that has an RTR use the same radio equipment they just put their own name on it. i looked at the radio that comes with the Yokomo GT-4 RTR and it is the exact same stuff that was in my car. my guess is they are just gonna use the exact same stuff. as for chassis pictures i just had a look around and it looks as if they are keeping it secret till it comes out because i haven't found a picture of the top off yet.

Since there's one on e b a y, doesn't that mean it is out? :)
