Hey everyone, just thought that I'd post that I finnally got my first on road car and it is sweet. It's a factory team kit tc3 with a lehner basic 4200 brushless motor, a shulze esc a nissan skyline body and an airtronics mx-3 controller. I still havent gotten to go to home depot and get abs for my second set of rims but I do burnouts off the line for about 10 feet anyway. It's a really powerful motor and I'm very impressed, almost beats my friends big block t maxx in a drag race, even though it burns rubber through half the race! anyway, I have some pictures of it for you to check out.

Nice rig. Just a few suggestions: Clean up the wiring, and switch to deans untra plugs so you don't have any current issues with your brushless. Have fun! :D

where would I get the plugs and what exactly are they?

sorry, but I'm new to electric, what do I put them on? My batteries or esc or where?

also, what would you suggest I do with the mess of wires?

Everywhere you can. Your e.s.c., battery packs, charger. They replace the white bulky tamiya/standard plugs you have on all of your stuff. Also I should warn you not to switch over if you charge battery packs for a rotostart, ez-start or anything where the connector cannot be changed, unless you have a spare charger for those.

EDIT: If you're handy with a soldering iron you can make use of your skills by cutting out some of the slack and cleaning up that way. Also effective is wrapping the wires around a screwdriver in a circular fashion to shorten them, it will give them a curley-Q.

well, I don't have to worry about that, because my maxxes ez start battery has its own 15 min charge and these use the peak. so they replace all of the white tamiya connectors, is there anything I can do about the wiring from my esc to the motor, because those solder joints would probably be my main resistance.

Get some deans solder with proflux, it's the best solder for electrics and will give you the least resistance. You can snip the wires comming from the motor a few inches and resolder them to the e.s.c.

actually, I had just taped the tires to try drifting, and all radio equipment went out on my brand new airtronics mx-3! looks like I may have to buy a new 80$ reciever unless someone else knows what I can do.

Are you positive it was your radio gear? Those tamiya/standard connectors could be the culprit, and may have toasted your e.s.c./motor which would really be a bummer. Check everything over to make sure all of the batterys are charged properly, and that you have good connections. Sorry to hear that. [:@]

ha, the funny thing is that I know it is the radio because: 1. the motor beaps 5 times when it first recieves power and 2: steering doesn't work and it's powered by seperate batts

Bummer, well you can send it back to sanwa/airtronics to have it fixed/replaced. Or contact the hobbyshop/store you bought it from. Hope you get things straightened out.

P.S. It may be far fetched, but are the transmitter batterys completely dead? I have seen them so drained they can't send any signal to the reciever.[&o]

the mx-3 displays battery life and the wheels twitch when I touch the antenna of the controller to the reciever antenna, so I think I'm in trouble[&o]

Did you have the radio system working before, or did you just install it and get that result? If it's brand new maybe the antenna isn't properly connected to the board inside the reciever, taking it apart is easy and would let you know if that was the problem. If so, just solder the wire properly.

well, not really brand new, I got it for christmas, but I will check if the antenna is loose inside of it.

no luck, just checked it out. I'm going to e mail tower now and see what they can do. hopefully they'll help me out since I just spent 500-1000 on the car from them.

That's probably going to be your best bet, they're usually good with returns/replacements. GOOK LUCK!:D

wow, I just read the description and found out that if I mail it back to airtronics with a letter and a reciet I have a 1 year warrenty on it. Guess my luck has finally started to get good.

Call/E-Mail them first. They may pay for shipping, or can give you some insight and fix it over the phone. [sm=thumbup.gif]
