RE: Is this a good choice?

It's a rip really, the only thing 'drift' you're getting with that is the body set/tires. You would be better off buying an Associated TC4, Losi XXX-S, or another shaft drive kit and buying that body if it turns you on. If you're hell bent on getting the Yokomo 'drift chassis' I suggest looking on eB4y, you'll get a better deal if you look around for a few days.

I myself would pass on that body and get the Top Secret or Kei Office S15 body set since there's already many people who have the FD.

Just my $.02 [8D]

RE: Is this a good choice?

I'm not saying it doesn't drift good. It's the price they charge for it that isn't good. Plus I can almost guarantee your LHS doesn't stock Yokomo parts if you happen to break something, which would suck if you had to hunt down the part on the Internet and wait up to a week for it to arrive in the mail. That's why I suggest you look into something that your LHS stocks spare parts for and doesn't cost quite as much for the same thing ( Basically ).

Do u have any pic of the yokomo chassie? Or any other pic of the other type of drifters, btw this is my first drift car but i dont want a starter car.

RE: Is this a good choice?

If you don't want a 'starter' car then the Yokomo is not the way to go, it's a highly stripped down version of their MR4-TC SD car with some flashy wheels and body. I suggest the Associated TC4 followed by the Team Losi XXX-S, both of these cars are great drifters and come in several 'flavors' (i.e. sport, team, factory team, rtr).

( Biggest the site had ) Yokomo drift chassis.

Team Associated TC4 ( Team Version )

Team Losi XXX-S ( Sport RTR Version )

Just keep this in mind, Yokomo's products are made in Japan and don't seem to have a very long 'shelf life' here in the states. Whereas the Team Associated and Team Losi line of cars have years of support and 'shelf life'.

RE: Is this a good choice?

ok then the tc4 is the way im going, but i have never owned a electric car, so this might be a dums Q: how do u remover the battery for the esc/motor to charge it, it looks like it is soldered on

RE: Is this a good choice?

Don't mind that pic, it's how racers rig up their electronics for less resistance and better current. If you buy the car in kit form you'll be able to use Tamiya ( Standard plugs ), Deans racing plugs ( My favorite ), or any other battery connectors you wish. If you get it in RTR form it will come with Tamiya ( Standard ) plugs which are an industry standard for batterys, ESC, and chargers.

Honestly for drifting there is no need to spend a lot of money. I use a TT-01 which the yokomo drift tires and it works fine. You can upgrade it over time and best of all it is probably one of the most durable cars out there which is a big plus for drifting.

Can't say that I do. I am mostly into technology and games, so those are the type of sites I frequent.
