Drifting with Rubber

Hey all,

I was out today messin around with my R-40 and some rubber tires on and the thing was drifting so sweet, well that was until I had a rear tire blow out cuz of some crap in the road. I was wondering if anyone uses rubber for drifting or if it's all PVC and ABS? Maybe it's just me but the sound and smell of burning rubber mixed with the relative ease to get the car to drift just makes sense...maybe I'm missin somethin. Can someone tell me if they actually make a rubber tire specifically for drifting?

Cheers[8D]

I'm thinking of just sanding down some rubber tires until theres no tread (soft compound) and see how it drifts

HPI's new Stage D drift car uses rubber tyres but its basically just a really hard compound I guess. Yokomo drift tyres are an option but I dunno. It'd be nice if someone did a test with nitro and electric and found what tyre composition performs best.

HPI stage D tires are awsome possum for nitro drifting......had mine for about 2 months and tires show no sign of wearing down any time soon.......for electric .....tamiya makes a good tire that is hard on the inside and soft on the outside....specially for electric drifting.\

Sweet, I just picked up some Pauselli PMT 40 shore rubber tires. Gonna throw them on some 5 stars, they are supposed to be super durable...I'm gonna grab some Stage D's as well. Especially if they wear as slowly as you say. Thanks!

Some guy in the RC club in my school was driving his TT-01 around campus w/ a pink skyline body, and he was like, using really worn out slicks. He was drifting n' stuff, but it was pretty grippy.

Yokomo drift radials aren't that great. And Stage D's aren't different for each market. The best drift radials would be the Northcrafts. Followed by the Pit Shimizus, Stage D's, Tamiyas and Yokomos.
