tc4 setup.

ok im new to the whole electric scene except for my friends ae 18t. im wanting to get in to the drifting scene. ive done small drifts with a pos nitro car before but im ready for something better.

ive been looking at the tc4 mostly because i have an ntc3 and i like the design. i know there different but are also close in some ways.

ok heres what ive come up with so far.

[link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGNG5&P=7]esc[/link]

[link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=ASCC5218&P=7]motor[/link]

i know i need a radio system but ill deal with that later.

ok so what type of cells should i get to make a battery, or should i just get a pre-made one?
I know how to solder and all the good stuff. but where can i get one of those plastic trays that holds the cells and makes it easier to solder them together?

also if i make my own battery, something has been bugging me. how do the cells stay togther? is it just the soldering between two terminals or can you wrap them all togther with something. the thought of having 5 cells weight on one solder kinda gives me the shivers. (basically a chain, weakest link is as much as it can hold, you know where im going.)

thanks in advance for any help.

I can sell you a nice AM radio. $80 shipped with two receivers.

The car and ESC are fine. As for a motor, you're best off with one of the Trinity stock motors (P2K, P2K2, Monster). For batteries, you can just get the Epic 3000maH batteries. They run around $20 a pop on Tower. And if there's anything else you need to know, just post up.

go with ^^ or the venom 3000mah packs. very inexpensive and worth every penny. making batterys is alot of work soo go with premade

im actually thinking of buying a spektrum dx3. im gettng into racing with my savage, i need more precise control for my ntc3(os 18t z rips) and im thinking about getting into the 1/8 buggy scene. would a spektrum be way overkill? im only a sophmore in highschool with no job, so its not easy.

If you want ultimate precision, you'll want the Futaba 3PK. Then you'll need a certain servo so you can utilize the special features of the radio.

what does the futaba have that the spektrum doesnt. is it some special feature that helps with drifting?

Edit: just looked up the 3pk and holy crap. thats expensive. better make me drive better than anyone else. :D

Yah my friends that are using the RTR TC4 are STILL running the stock radio. Nothing wrong with it. They're all using brushless systems now too...you'll be fine with the stock one.

Oh wait...you're not getting the RTR. Nevermind then...

I'm using the Airtronics MX-A and it's only 60 bucks at hobby people. 77 at Towerhobbies

That motor you linked to is one for 1/18 cars.

Just get the RTR and some drift-specific tires for it and you should be set.
