Is a HPI Pro-4 good for drifting?

Totally new to RC and im planning on getting a drifter for my Bday,
just asking if the HPI pro 4 is any good for drifting? although it doesnt come with electronics etc
or should i just stick with a HPI Stage D or Tamiya TT-01?

Thanks for reading

yes a pro 4 can be great for drifting.... just to start off a basic setup on it would be using a spool in the rear and one way upfront on yokomo drift rims

i have never tried them myself, but from what i have heard pro 4s are some of the best cars for drifting that you can buy. while the stage d or the tt-01 are cheaper, the quality of the kits is much less than the pro 4. buying a nicer kit will help you in the long run.

Agree.

Any top racing spec kit will make a great drifter because it'll be designed to last and be efficient

pro 4 is shaft driven and a spool is a solid axel completly different to a differential... a diff will allow the outer wheel to turn faster to the inner wheel where as a spool will make both wheels turn at the same speed under cornering as a very basic way of putting it .... a spool is perfect for drifting in the rear anyway

A spool locks the diff and spins the tires at a equal speed.

I don't know much about Tamiya but you can put HEAVY oil in the diff to semi-lock it. Locking the diffs makes it harder to control a slide.
