Best nitro drift tires?
 

sup all. i just got into the drifting scene when i put some ABS tires on my ofna LD3 (thats nitro for all you uninformed people[8D] ). its really fun but i was reading that using abs tires on nitro overrevs the engine or something... basically that it messes up the engine. first of all... is that true? if so im def not going to use those abs tires again cuz i dont wanna mess up my engine. so heres the next question: what are the best nitro drifting tires?

I've ran a gal. of fuel threw my HPI RS4 3 evo with only abs tires and my motor is fine. Just try not to rev the motor really high alot and it will be fine. Also I suggest you cut as many air holes in your body as posable to help with cooling. Sence drifting is slower and the motor is still running hard.

im in the process of cutting out some more holes in my body but i ran about 8 tanks without the body and with the ABS tires. the temp was just about where i think its suppsed to be (230-250) and only a couple times i heard it sound like it was over revving. so if i keep it like this should my engine stay pretty well intact? also, did you adjust the camber on your car to drift? cuz the 3 degrees on the back tires killed my ABS's they totally wore them down on the inside way more than the outside. http://www.thatvideosite.com/view/1872.html . with my ABS tires theres no way i would be able to go that fast with that much control (or maybe i can but im just still learning). what tires could i get to be able to drift like that?

Yea I cambered them flat to help with wear. And yes if you run the motor like that it will be fine. O yea I'm still learning to.

i have tried yokomo tires, and abs. i like the yokomo zero one tires the best for my nirto. they have more control then abs and the old double ring yok tires. but the abs will last longer. the only time i over heat is when i dont stop:D
i mean like i dont stop for like 20 minutes straight. my motor has seen temps in the 350 range. but i 'd say its adverage temp is like 280ish.
i have also tried the drift radials. they are fun for drifting fast. like 40mph drifts.

you must have 0 degrees camber cuz with my 3 degree (i think its 3, i just know its factory settings) it almost destroyed my ABS's the first time i ran them (about 6-8 tanks). im assuming its cuz of the camber cuz they are now way slanted haha. the best part is i can just buy a long tube of ABS pipe and cut tires myself. i think im going to try the electrical tape method on the middle to see if it gives me more control.

From drifting in general, negative camber is going to wear the tires unevenly because less patch is actually touching the ground. As far as the camber degree, that's really going to depend on what type of tires you run. Some tires (again, this is more general drift FYI) are set up for diff degrees of negative camber. I beleive the Yok tires with drift rings are set to be cambered at a particular degree. There's enough grip for controlling your drift, but enough slip to have fun sliding. I guess it really depends on your tire.
