New to drifting.

I have been building rc cars and using them for awhile now but never got into racing or any specifics, but I am interested in the drifting part and had a question. What would be a good kit for a drift rc and what size motor? I have an incomplete awd hpi rs4 laying around and I beleive a 12 turn motor. Would these work together?

Your rs4 will be fine for drifting, in fact, any 4WD touring car will do the job. Your 12t motor may not have enough torque for drifting as most people tend to go for a 27t motor, but anything between 19t and 27t will do fine.

Nope, nothing special beside pvc or abs tires is needed to drift. Go to your local hardware store and grab yourself some 2 inch pvc or abs, go home and cut it (or have the store do it), slap the tires on your rims, and your ready to drift.

The difference between you and the professionals will be tires and possibly the body styles. :D But, since you've been in it for awhile, you may just have different tires. Drift tires are expensive-ish. And not a lot of companies sell'em. I know Yokomo (yokomousa.com) sells them and I know HPI know carries SOME type of drift tire. I've never used the HPI one though. But, the pvc will work just fine. And get a beater body to learn with. You'll hit stuff. Trust me. ;)Have fun.
