fg drift car
 

hello all

I have 1/5 fg sportsline rwd & would like to set it up for a bit of carpark drifting fun[8D]

i know 4wd is better for drifting than 2wd but its a bit of fun so any tips on setting it up

would be a great help e.g suspension set-up tyres diff etc.

I don't know alot about 1/5th but I'll take a stab at it. Softer springs in the front and hard in the rear. Locked rear but try it regular first. And just do you got the heads up alot of people are gonna rant and rave about hoe 2wd wont drift.

cuz it won't. R/C needs AWD to drift. But, you'll be able to get some pretty wicked spin outs.

thanks em x 6 racer. :) do you know if i will need to lock the diff.

If it spins out it spin out but i might just get the hang of it.

maybe the all lightweight 1/10 touring cars can't drift 2wd because they have too small of a moment. any outside force will upset them and spin them out.

1/5 on the otherhand is a lot more slowed down in reaction than 1/10. 1/5 would be way easier to drift 2wd and you can use normal rubber tires as well. don't go changing a huge amount of things though to try and get it to drift. a softer suspension will slow down the reactions and you will be able to hold a drift with the least amount of input. get the hardest compound tires you can so a) they last a while, and b) they will slip easier. try practicing by driving around you in a circle and watching the car as it is about to slip when you give it more throttle. this will be the point your car breaks loose and you can initiate the drift.

with 2wd though you willl need to be countersteering so slow down your servo's reaction time to make things easier.

tried to drift a 1/5th before .. it will tail out and slide before spinning out..

You need a Netball court to try and get any serious tail outs..

A locked diff will help

The thing you're going to need to drift RWD properly is a ton of weight over the front axles, that's the primary change to setup, try it and see

well lads tried to drift this rwd car with all the top tips e.g hard tires ,pvc ,tape ,hard back soft

front and tone of weight on the front but sometimes i get it[8D] & then it goes round & round[:@]

spent alot of time & patience in a carpark with this car[>:] & 4wd is the way forward for me:eek:
