RE: Tamiya Subaru Drift Spec Build

Yes a tt-01d is a great drifter for a beginner. I own 2.Here is a vid of a tt-01D drifting. It's bone stock.[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFKub69H_cg]TT-01D drift vid[/link]

I think the sports tuned motor included is a 23 turn motor. The ESC can handle that motor.

RE: Tamiya Subaru Drift Spec Build

Yeah a tamiya sport tuned is a 23 turn. They have them off tower for less than 20 bucks.

JDM bear in mind that when you get the tt-01D that you should try and get the aluminum driveshaft. Other than that you should be cool. Get some ABS or PVC and you will be all set. And just do the upgrades as you learn to drive the car.

The spec kit comes with oil shocks?

Yes, it comes with oil shocks. see post #7

I took it for a spin today at our track, and the tarmac/asfalt on the track is not suitable for the Tamiya D tires. There is simply too much grip in them for that surface.
Maybe a stronger motor, could make the wheels spin better, but I dont want to go that way.

Im going to install these ABS, or PVC tires on it instead.

I also put some tape inside the body shell where the clips are, and in the wheel arches to protect the paint.
I installed the receiver on the rear diff, to get it away from the ESC and mtor. this gives me very long range without any glitching at all.

RE: Tamiya Subaru Drift Spec Build

That tape idea is genious. Loving those rims.

3DSAVAGE 07-06-2006 03:02 PM

RE: Tamiya Subaru Drift Spec Build

wat exactly does the tape do?

SJN 07-06-2006 03:14 PM

RE: Tamiya Subaru Drift Spec Build

if you look at the thrid picture, you can see that the wheel has rubbed against the tape. If the tape was not there, you get a nice clear spot on the boddy shell there......which is not cool looking :)

Also the clips on the inside, rub the paint off the hood with time.

On the tamiya site it says friction damper and also on tower.....

That's wierd

I was in the market for this car, but now I suppose there is another reason to get one.

hey. sweet job man. how long did that take to take all those pics and upload them?? you play with boats too. what boats do you have?? I have a Kyosho Nitro Viper GT. Im 14 and don't know much about nitro engines. i'm using 15% nitro. is that good??

Yae, I have a few boats too..... Its my Kyosho Seawind that you can in the background. Its a hoot to sail around with :)

I only have one nitro boat, and its the Miss Budweiswer. I use 15% nitro, but 25 would be better...just more expensive ;)

Building, and taking pictures dont take that long time at all. I wish more poeple would do the same.......then you can realy see what you get .

RE: Tamiya Subaru Drift Spec Build

I recieved my TT-01D yesterday and when putting it together I ran across a problem with the tierods. They are just too wide for the opening so I had to hammer the rear ones in place and it worked just fine with a little bit of threadlocker to keep it secure. I was just wondering if there is a easier way for me to get the tierods in so putting the front ones in won't be such a pain.

Thank You

The ones you have shown, are for the front...... did you install them in the rear ?

If something does not fit correctly, you have made a mistake :)
Seriously, nothing should be a hard fit. The parts fit in the kit should be perfect.
