I am Magnat and I Drift a Tamiya TT-01 (electric)
Pro's Easy to slide in small spaces, Great to Slide out in the Open, Variety of shells from 190mm and 200mm Motor replacement and ESC Replacement Costs are half that of what a Nitro Costs and if you dont like how Slow or Fast You Electric Car is, pop in a 22T pinion and Spur and performance changes... no expensive motor upgrades and 2-speed gear boxes to go wrong No Motor over heating. Can be Drifted late at night due to low noise Running Costs in general are lower. Servicing Easier No mess and no fuss Most will Drift Straight out of the Box with Minimum upgrades Far Easier to control then a Nitro and offers Slightly more improves throttle control. Doesnt go through tyres as quick as a Nitro Can Drift with Cheap PVC Tyres and Still offers control..(Limited but it is there) Drift at Nearly all Indoor Tracks Reduced Fire Danger in the off chance of a Bad Collision. a $40 Battery will last Alot longer then $40 of Nitro mix Cons No Nitro Tyre squeeling High Speed High Velocity Action Battery Run times limit Drift time No Real feel of a Engine Top Speed limited to motor , ESC and gearing capabilities |

NITRO SUCKS XD go with electric. less maintence and less money. i had a nitro drift and it was gay. after a month everything needed to be maintenced. i crashed it once and the was the end. so stupid. electrics are the opposite and are more fun to play around wit.

RE: Attetntion all drifters i need your help : )
well i have a associated rc10gt that i bash around and its not to bad. i fly planes so i know how to tune a engine. i really like hearing the high rpms but either way i go im going to get a kit i wanna build this bad boy myself : ) but im still not sure which way to go. with nitro everythgin seems cramped together but on my rc10gt its not all cramped up. i plan on drifting this everyday and i plan to get my friend into this as well. so i dunno either way i dont mind spending the money: ) i got a job now lol no more mooching off of my paretns lol
|
RE: Attetntion all drifters i need your help : )
Then go with Nitro, You can tune a motor , already need the fuel and you know how messy it is and how much room your gonna need to drift it in.
No use an Electric Drifter trying to convert someone who already has Nitro in their Veins... |
RE: Attetntion all drifters i need your help : )
well the thing is i dont know hoe much room u need to drift with a nitro becuase with my truck i cant drift it so i just bash it i see these electrics drifting slow as hell can a nitro drift slow like that too or do u need alot of speed to get it to slide. also im still open to the electric idea. does yokomo make any nitro drifters?
|
RE: Attetntion all drifters i need your help : )
Yokomo makes a modified GT-4 called the Nitro Drift. And you said that electric drifting is slow, but you have to realize that we use plastic-type tires and traction isn't always there to be had. Also, no matter what kind of car you're drifting, you're still way out of scale. 10MPH drift = 100MPH scale drift.

Yal gotta listen to this man he KNOWS what Hes Talking bout.;)

RE: Attetntion all drifters i need your help : )
Your going to need Roughly a Double Tennis Court Sized Area to Drift a Nitro Properly.. With an Electric, you can Get Good Slides on an Area the Size of a Hand Ball Court.
See Speed is Not Essential for Drift, Torque is, when you say " Slow Drifting" this IS more Technical Drift then High Speed long Super Slideways Action of a High Speed Drift. Technical Drift is Hard to pull off with a Nitro UNLESS, the engine is Very well Tuned and the Driver has Elite Car Handling Skills. Nitro Motors Just Dont seeem to be happy doing Technical Drift, they either Over rev and Chew Tyres, Or Bordering on Stalling. Electric Has the Advantage of the Motor Being able to control the Revs Via the Throttle Commands of the Trigger and most have a Nice Torque range through out their RPM band Torque comes on nice and Low where as With the Nitro, it tends to Occur in the Upper Scale of the RPM Band.. In Short, Electric requires Less room, has a Smoother Throttle Response and Throttle control, No Mess and No Fuss, No need to re-tune the Engine for a Cold moring, only to re-tuune it again for an Middle of the Day Run. Tempreture differences dont affect the Electric Motor.. |
RE: Attetntion all drifters i need your help : )
i know a user here feintmotion drifts nitro. i think he could give you a pretty unbaised response on the end of nitro. on electric i like it because its like you buy 3 batteries and you could go for maybe 2 hours of drift. im not going to act like i know everything about electric drift. i guess i just like it. lol
|
RE: Attetntion all drifters i need your help : )
Yeah the 3 guys you need to hit up are roy, magnat, and feintmotion. they are the most knowledgable drifters on here.
|
RE: Attetntion all drifters i need your help : )
Roy: Handles Electric and has Great Chassis Set up hints.
magnat: TT-01 Specialist (Ghetto Drifting a Specialty) feintmotion : King of the Nitro Drifting em x 6 : Great guy to ask for Info on Shells ranging from an RX7 to a Boss Mustang.. |
RE: Attetntion all drifters i need your help : )
Hahaha mag! Maybe we should start an experts panel thread. But yea, that pretty much sums it up.

I am RC freak. I drive a Jada Toys TEIN Supra(electric of course) and I think you should go wid electric.
Here're a few positives about RC drifters(electric): * Not that much attention needs to be paid to an electric RC drifter. *Upgradeable parts shouldn't cost that much. *Electric drifters are more efficent and are environmentally friendly. Here're a few negatives about nitro drifters: *They're very noisey when driving them so they might start a problem wid all your neighbours. * They're very messy when you inspect the engine. * Nitromethane fuel may cost very much for the nitro drifters. *You have to buy Nitromethane fuel all the time when your fuel runs which sends alot more money from your wallet to the drain. Note this: If you really want to save money instead of wasting your money on a nitro drifter. Get an electric RC drifter, it's better. And the Jada Toys TEIN Supra I have, that'll be replaced wid a brand new Yokomo HKS S15 Silvia or BLITZ ER34 Skyline or RS*R Supra. And remember this: "You don't have to be stuck in one RC hobby to move to the next . You can jump straight into another one." RC freak |
RE: Attetntion all drifters i need your help : )
I dont agree with all your opinions but it seems like you have grown up alot.
|
RE: Attetntion all drifters i need your help : )
i've been racing nitro for a while now and i know what i'am doing when it comes to nitro drifting and engine tuning(becuase i modify my own motors) but if your new to r/c cars and nitro motors in genral i suggest going with an electric car unless you live real close by someone that could help you with tuning your engine. it's real tricky. getting nitro 2 drift but if you know what you are doing and you got the rigth motor it's all trail and error from then on

RE: Attetntion all drifters i need your help : )
nitro is cooolerest because it was the ffasteringest of theplease cool

RE: Attetntion all drifters i need your help : )
If you're just starting out in drifting, electric's probably better... lighter = less chance of breaking stuff in a wreck. The downside is that unlike nitros, which will run for as long as your supply of fuel lasts, electrics usually have to be cooled off between runs (unless you run a very cool motor).
And electric drifting doesn't have to be slow... you can always go brushless and use the HPI stageD or yokomo drift radials. Both are supposed to offer more grip than ABS and PVC. The speeds will increase, it feel much more like rally racing, unlike PVC which is more like ice skating. ;) |
RE: Attetntion all drifters i need your help : )
cool i think im gunna go electric. im sick of having to buy fuel as it is for my planes thats why i dotn fly them anymore. now any suggestions as to which car to get i see everyone runs tto1's and yokomos any one car in specific that would be a good choice?

RE: Attetntion all drifters i need your help : )
TT-01
1. Cheaper then Yokomo and The Quality and Strength of the Chassis Is A tad Better 2. Heaps of Aftermarket Parts 3. Cost of Hop ups no where near as much as Yokomo And Unlike the Yokomo Chassis, The TT-01 is A Breeze to build and service... |
