need help Getting into drifing. Revo or jato?
 

Hey guys first post here. I used to race touring rc on a carpet oval course and had a savage 25 for a while, but thats all gone now. Im going to get back into rc racing, this time the nitro stadium truck most likely. But I also will be getting into drifting and using the same truck to do so. My question is I either want to get the revo 3.3, or the jato 3.3. There both quite nice but the jato is insanely fast, but rwd. the revo is still fast, but 100 bucks more and awd and a lil slower. My question is will the jato be alright for drifting? I know its rwd but at 60mph with a hi torque servo im wondering what will happen when I just throw it sideways. The revo is awd so I know it should be alright for drifting, but will it be as good since its a truck, not a car? and what would you do in my position?

Throw it sideways at 60 and one of two things will happen, it will either spin out, or cartwheel. In your positon, I would buy the jato, then take the cash you would have spent on the Revo and a little extra and buy a TA-02 or TT-01 to drift with.

Thats the thing, I want to be drifting nitro. I wasnt literally speaking thorwing it sideways, but you know what I mean. on the jato forum on traxxas people were saying they were drifitng with the stock tires but didnt really go in detail So I know its possible. Im just wondering if rwd big nitro cars are easier to drift than electric rwd cars. Wil the revo be good for drifting on pavement?

Staduim Trucks Dont Slide too good on the Black top..

If You Buy either it will need to be AWD and You could Try Wacking Drift Rubbers and a Set of 1:10 Touring car rims but I totally agree with what was Said above..

By an Electric , then come sliding

Yup, Buy a 4wd elec TC and drift. The Stadium Truck doesnt have a low enough COG to hold a good drift. And from what i've seen, Nitro's are hard to hold a decent drift with as well.

Sure you could slide a bit with a Stadium truck, but true drifting may be a chore.

Staduim trucks are a b**** to even try to slide. I got one good 3ft. slide n then spun out.
Get AWD im perty sure itl help both on pavement and dirt. Even better, Buy urself an truk and a car.

well ive decided to ge tthe revo since its much more for racing and its 4wd. plus im just going to get some extra rims and slap some pvc on there LOL

that is going to look so cool and funny at the same time:D lower it as much as you can then mod it to put the COG to the middle you would have made a whole new race of trucks drifting trucks lol:)

Yea it would be awsome to see a lowered dodge ram with body kits on it slideing across sideways lol or even cooler a deasel truck drifting that would sound so wierd lol:D

would it be possible to make what i said above with a jato? i had put thought into puttin a flame thrower on it along time ago but never finished it. what i thought about doing is having a constant source running to a glowplug in the stinger of the pipe. and have an on off switch on it so once i make a couple passes i could turn it on and when the extra fuel sprays out a flame. never tried it though. how would i run a smoke line or w/e to the pipe and make it work?i saw something about it in a magazine awhile ago but lost the mag.

the smoke line part would be for the revo.the flame thower is for whatever.sorry if i confused anyone.does anyone know of a company that makes a exhaust for the revo but it comes out the back of the truck like stacks or some common dual rear pipes?

true true.but do you see what im saying about the glow plugs on the biggest part of each stinger with like a 9v on the truck with and on/off switch between the batt. and the glowplugs.
