HPI Micro Drifter?
 

Does anyone drift an HPI micro and if so could u give me some info on how to get one started?

1 your micro rs4 probably costs more than a tt-01 kit. 2 Its preffered here for folk to use tt-01 and other 4wd models. 3 for about 110 dollars you can have the perfect drift car that suits you

well... its good you have one running. BUT your best bet is to buy a 1/10 4wd tt01. Why? Because itll be much easier to set up and drift with;)

I am going to keep it but im still getting a TT-01, ya see im only 15 and im just gettin started in rc drifting

Just put tape around the wheel or use pvc pipe... I have seen people drift with MRS4's and love the micro's myself. I have a 540 converted MRS4. One of my favorate RC's. Mine is setup for speed, not drifting though...

I need to put more updated pic's though. I now have my 540 sized Hacker C40 5 Turn motor mounted in it with 7.2v LiPo's.

With LiPo's you get more voltage with less weight and longer runtimes. Love them. Going to put them in one of my XMODS. ;) The one I am using as a drifter anyway....

TT01's, ect are JUNK in my eye's. Everybody on this forum loves them, but for what reason exactly?

Drifting's all in the "Suspension". TT01, TB01, ect, are not NEARLY as "Tunable" as some of the other car's in thier pricerange.
I've got $110 into my TC3 [Including a $50 charger and battery's...], And i garentee it's better suited then even the TT-01D with the same money put into it.

Your Micro RS4 will do just fine drifting. To set it up, I'd take a wheel [Spare if possible], to Ace and get some ABS that'll just barley fit over the wheel's. gear it for torque, and have fun. No need to jump on the bandwagon [That's EXACTLY what it is. Dont deny it.], And go buy a TT-01.

Your RS4 will not only in some cases be just as fast, or faster then a 1/10th scale, but it's highly tunable, And would be easy to drift in the kitchen when it's raining out.

Have fun, And somebody get a mod in here to re-direct all these TT-01 sheep.

Wasnt trying to bash, however he's giving out info that's 100% not correct.
The guy came asking how to convert his micro to a drifter, And as usual, got jumped on by a ton of ppl babbling up the tt01, which from my point of view, isnt really a decent choice for a drift car, even IF it was a TT01D.

Can you adjust Camber, Toe in, Toe out, ride height, wheel base, shock angle's, basically every square inch of suspension geometry on the TT01? Not from what i hear. And suspension set-up is 95% of the game.. Installing ABS wheel's is the other 5%. Sure, it'll still "Drift", But how well does it hold a drift? Do you see all the 1:1 scale drifter's running 18" ABS? Exactly.. just cause it's do-able, dont mean it's right. The TT01D is just a marketing ploy for tamiya to make more money. and i truley believe that the AE TC line is far more "Drift" worthy out of the box with rubber tires, then the plastic wheeled TT01 "Drift" car would ever be. Due to the suspension alone.

I do agree where I too see a lot of people jumping in and saying get a TT01 and other's as well when that is not what people are asking for.

I say keep your MRS4 and drift with it. There are a lot of people that drift with these and even smaller cars "1/28th scale" like XMODS & Mini-Z's. I say follow Represent316's advice and go get some pvc/abs that fits over the tire and go with it.

You will find that you do not need a super powerful motor for drifting. Most time all you need to do once you put the abs/pvc on is get a smaller pinion. I love watching the RC Cars drift even though I am not very good at it myself. :eek: I am working on that part though....

That setup has bin workin for me since i started. All ive spent is $16 since i started drifting wit it. Well minus the price of
Duracell batts. Still savin up to get myself a battery pack[8D]

Oh and "Represent316" the reason y aloy of guys reccommend the tamiya kits is the fact of theyre affordability. Not everyone is trying to go broke just to have fun. If the TC is what u run thats fine just dont start talkin for someone recomending an AFFORDABLE kit that will still drift.
