Which One....
I'm looking into getting an Electric Car for drifting.. which one is the best bang for the buck??? I really like the 190mm bodies for the electrics. hopefully they make some in 200mm so I can put them on my nitro cars.

RE: Which One....
Tamiya TT-01.

RE: Which One....
They do make 200mm body's.. Look on tower under 1/10th scale body's. A few company's make em.
As far as a good car, Anything that's cheap, and has decent part's supply. Go to your local hobby shop [If you have one], Ask what type of touring car part's they stock, Then order a used or cheap new car online depending on that. Good luck. |
RE: Which One....
I know they make lots of 200mm bodies :D but the really nices ones like the tamiya and yokomos are all 190mm. I'm thinking about this one [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=001161581&I=LXMVP2&P=K]TT-01 CopperMix Silvia[/link]. Has everything to make it run.. I don't really need the radio. I'm not really familiar with Electric since I run mostly Nitro. So what are some good upgrades for this kit??? and is this a good kit to get or is there a better one?? Tamiya looks like the way to go they are pretty cheap and reliable from reading posts in this forum.

RE: Which One....
i think hpi bodies are really good and lots of them are 200mm....i just picked up the 68 camaro body today for my tt-01 to replace my M5 body, both of which are hpi and 200mm....

RE: Which One....
the Silvia kit I mentioned do I need to upgrade the ESC and motor??? and what are some must have hop-ups for this car???
|
RE: Which One....
the first hop ups i am doing are driveshaft, bearings, alum steering, and carbon upper frame...sway bars, heatsink w/ fan, and esc next week....the only reason i am getting an esc is because i went to a 19T motor and i dont want to burn up my esc...i dont think its necessary if you have the sport tuned motor(i could be wrong)....just personal preference.

RE: Which One....
thanks thats exactly what I wanted to know. On tower I noticed there are 3 versions of the Associated A.I. ESC. a 54.99,69.99, and 89.99. Looks to me like the only difference between them is the Turns it can handle.. which one is good for drifting???
|
RE: Which One....
the cheapest one, thats not always the case in RC though just in this situation unless you know you'll need to ESC that can go down to lower turns. as you may know most people use a 27t motor and if not they dont go too much lower than 15t. pick the ESC that would be most versatile with your motor choicing and driving style.

RE: Which One....
ok good to know.. as for the motor whats a good one to get??? I'm not sure what kind of motor comes with this kit. I have read that a 19T double works really well. I searched for some on tower and theres a venom fireball which is $16 and a few others around the $25 range.. which namebrands are good for motors?? also is the metal motor mount a good upgrade for the tt-01??
|
RE: Which One....
ive always heard that you want an esc that can handle more than the motor you have....basically if you have a 19T motor you want an esc than can handle a 17T motor and you'll be fine...metal motor mount is good...i have a reedy 19T and a peak racing jaguar 19T and they suit me just fine...

RE: Which One....
remember th 89.99 may be limitless. and just think you may want to swap motors of you get the need for speed[8D]

RE: Which One....
appreciate all the info guys! will these shocks fit on a tt-01 it says they are for a ta05. Is the shock length around 55mm on tt-01's???
what name brand for motors are really good?? I dont want to get a motor thats going to burn out really fast. http://i18.ebayimg.com/06/i/07/d6/0a/eb_1.JPG |

RE: Which One....
yokomo has some super deep wheels.. will those fit without any mods on a TT-01???
|
RE: Which One....
Yes, but you'll need 200mm bodies.
|
RE: Which One....
get something tamiya tt01 or even a TL01 don't get a yok way to much for nothing
|
RE: Which One....
ok I'll get some of those for the nitro then. Can someone do me a favour and measure from the front body post to the rear body post and tell me how far apart they are. And also how far apart the front posts are from eachother and the rears on a TT-01. Anyone?? thanks!!! ;)
