people say that electric is better...but i dont see how that is possible. i think electric is better for donuts...but i havnt seen any pull a lengthy slide, or be able to hold a spin-out. and how long do electric batteries last? i am geussing nitros are much better for just free ride or racing, and thought they were better for drift as well up until i heard differenly. comparing the stage D from HPI and any other electric drift videos...the nitro looks much better. let e know of your opinions. thanks

Electric is cheaper to maintain. Nitro is more expensive, and you need to know about how a nitro runs, and tunes.

They both have the advantages and DIS-advantages.

never seen electrics pull lengthy slides? you gotta watch some vids man. electric batteries can go for 20 minutes an upwards depending on your gearing and motor.

i would say most drifters are electric... probably 90 percent

SG Drifters Use Electric and Pull off 15ft Slides without a Problem..

I use Electric and Have no Problems at all Pulling of 10Foot Slides..


Careful about Bashing Electrics as they clearly are the King of Drift..

Dont mistake HP for Drift Ability
Dont think because a Nitro has more Speed that it will drift better

The driver also has alot to do with it. I can pull 15 foot drifts with my Nitro, no problem on HPI Drift Slicks. Nitro is a little tricky to play with.

Im not tryn to step on anyones toes here, but drifting has always been about driver skill, and knowing how to control his vehicle. So when it comes to electric vs nitro, Id hafta say its mostly what you can handle cost and maintainance wise, and personal preference more-over the cars ability to perform...

Electric's are clean, easy to maitain, cheap, quiet, and most can go as fast or even faster than nitro's, easy to control, and probibly the easest of the two to get into drifting. Nitros are cool cuz you get the smoke effect with your drift, you get that sweet crazy sound screaming from un relenting throttle use, lol, but in all, its the same as the electric's. I know the throttle responce from a nitro isnt as snappy as electircs and can take some time to get use to... So really, its all preference, stinky dirty nitro, or wait 2+ hours in between sessions to charge batteries...

Thats my experience, I own an electric Tamiya 4wd car (unknown model, over 10 years old with trinnity 20t and LRP esc) and a Kyosho spider (5 years old) modifyed with a .18 hobby pro cheapo that has wayy too much power this car to handle, lol.

And I luv'em both, after my maxx that is, hehe.

but it doesnt take over 2 hours to charge batteries lol. that type of time would be comming from some cheaper charger you just plug into the wall and xaingangsidamn 2+ hours charging. now and days peak chargers can get batteries done in 20 minutes and then you can charge more batteries and get over 1 hour of drive time. plus they've got those nifty dual chargers (two at once) and bam. anyways

Oh really, sweet! I havent bought a single thing for my electric since the 1800's, lol. I still got the old 2h "quick" charger, but I guess its a trickle charger compaired to the 20 minute model you metioned, driftdriftdrift.

That might just make me wanna update to a newer electric car, brushless with a novac esc, hehe. What battery/motor combos do yall recomend for drift?

Oh, today, I was drfting my nitro round the parking lot with the ABS tires, I just made them and was rather supprised to see that I hardly need to apply any throttle to get it to drfit for miles, and the best part, it never overheated! I could touch the head for a long time without getting burnt. With the hard rubber tires my car got crackling hot after 10 minutes of ripping round... I need to get a temp guage badly, the "touch the head with your finger" test isnt the nicest way to tell temp, lol. Could it just be the method I use to drive? Or maby the engine design? (Hobby Pro 18CX) I donno, but I do like the ABS setup.:D
