Time to Seperate The Categories..

There seems to be a bit of confusion of what we are trying to achieve in replicating RC Drift..
So here is a Quick Run Down..

Drift in Race
Drift in Racing is where you use drift to assist in getting quicker lap times by sliding the car around a corner instead of nailing the Apex smack on..
and using Excess braking to scrub off speed in order to take the corner.
Rally Drivers are a perfect example of race drift, they nail the entry quick, back off on the power, Shoot the car sideways around the corner then poor on the power for a quick exit..

Show Drift
Show drift is to get the car to go as sideways as possible whilst rounding a corner..
Your Judged on Angle, Speed and Distance travelled sideways.
Essentially it is a Demonstration of car control..
A Drift Battle is where it is not often the Car that crosses the line first, but How sideways they can get the car and still remain in Control..

Track Drift
Track Drift is where you use a designated track to slide around..
Nailing the Entry perfectly, sliding sideways through the race line and connecting your drift with the next corner..
It takes alot of practice and track time to perfect.. Not all of us have access to a track so that leaves us with the next Catergorie.. Free Style..

Free-Style
This is what most Carpark meets are about...
Showing of Your skills in an open area. Drifting around anything you can, be it a Manhole cover or a Traffic Island..
Drifting around Each others Cars, Just Sliding the Best way you can... You usually get major credit if Your Drifting with a few Guys and can Drift as a tandem , Synchronised drift and looks awesome on Video but takes a lot ofdedictaion and drivers of similiar Skill level..

Ghetto Drift
You Slide anywhere, Be it on your driveway, Street, Bike path and you slide around anything..
Coke Cans, Potholes ,Bird Crap : anything.. Free Style is the Key..

No matter what you choose to replicate, Drifting is awesome to watch and makes you feel good when you have achieved it..

So Get that Tail out and KEEP IT OUT !!

Did you define these yourself? Why would you not nail the apex in any of the first three types?? It's the way to get pass a corner quickest.

Show Drift is not about How Fast but how Far there for the Apex is not Essential, you can Drift at any Given point.. no Exact race line is needed..

Real drift is judged on Angle and speed carried through the drift...
