Anyone useing one of the HPI DBox systems
I just picked up one of the D Boxes. It looks like fun. I want to use it both for drifting and to counter it in off road use. The instructions are rather sparse I could use any help in setting this thing up.

I wont be touching a D-box..
A D-box doesnt teach you proper car control, its like training wheels for a Drifter... I will be leaving it well alone.. |

ORIGINAL: magnat I wont be touching a D-box.. A D-box doesnt teach you proper car control, its like training wheels for a Drifter... I will be leaving it well alone.. I understand that but I really bought it for my HPI Baja 5 because that thing fishtails like there is no tomorrow. I contacted HPI thinking that there might be something wrong ( I dont have another one in my area to compair it to). They told me that they have gotten a few calls like that and have had great results using the DBox. I said that the DBox was a drift helper right. They said id can be used both ways to increase drift or to eliminate it. Now I have used it on my B5 with great results. I then used it on my Schumacher Big 6 1/6 scale, 2wd on road racer with still great results in eliminating the drift. But now I was going to try it the other way. I am not a serious drifter just wanting to play. Training wheels is exactly what i want. I figure that I can use it to see the proper alignment of the car and slowly lower the gain till I get to the point where it is not necessary. Dose that make sense to anyone else? |

Yes, you want to have training wheels till you get it right, then Switch it off when you have gotten used to drifting..
Car control (drifting) comes with practice but with the Baja being RWD I can understand it neeeding it... They hammer !! |
RE: Anyone useing one of the HPI DBox systems
Hi,
I think the D-Box is more or less the same thing as a heli gyro. Kyosho made one of this for buggies long time ago. According to HPI videos, the D-Box is quite amazing in drifting aid. Heli gyros varies from 30.00 to 400.00. The D-box should be some economy gyro. I had tried drifting and it wasn't easy to control without assistance. With the D-Box, I guess it would be easier to get to a certain standard. The setting for a gyro is about sensitivity and I guess the D-box is about the same thing. Regards Joaquim |

You are exactly correct. The DBox sells for like $100.
