**Stage D?**

I've got a HPI rs4 3 evo roller laying around that im probably gonna drop another T-15, or some other cheeper engine, but i wanted to ask whether this car can be easily drifted (well not easliy because drifitng is actually hard, but you know what i mean) without getting the whole stage D kit, and just using the drift tires, and maybe a few little set-up changes? If i can which tires, and what set-up changes do you reccomend? just so you know i do have adjustable turnbuckles.

RE: **Stage D?**

I'm wondering the same thing. I don't want to shell out the money for the stage D kit. I don't want a full drift setup, just something i could have fun with if i wanted to get sideways.

Also, how "undrift worthy" would a stage D kit be on regular tires? Would it be relatively similar to the regular kit on regular tires, etc?

Sorry, not trying to hijack, just have been having similar thoughts.

Getting the Stage D kit is not worth the Extra..

Just get some Hard Rubber compound Tyres and the Standard RS4 Evo3 will drift, although you will have to watch Your motor temps as Drift is very Harsh on a Nitro

hi rs43EVOman...

the t-15 is good lil enhine, same as rush evo im thinkin?...
i would ditch the t-15 idea and either get the 18ss or a wasp 12 engine, the wasp is a higher reving engine, the other thing u need to think about is the t-15 does not like to run rich as it losses power and pullling power.. the 18ss is much better and will fit right in, and the 18ss has a better cooling head, that my opionion anyway, you could go with an o.s engine as u need an engine that is good in dispatching heat and has a higher idle than the t-15, dont get me wrong u can drift the t-15, but watch temps and keep it running rich, as you prob no the t-15 is mostly running at a max all the time, not the greatest engine in speed but is reliable.

:D

Ok well after some researching the toehr good engine i could ifnd for around the same price as the T-15 was the [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXUH46&P=0]Ofna Force .12S w/Pull Start[/link]. Does anyone have expierence withthis engine, from what ive heard it much better then the T-15? Also will it work with all the clutch system, flywheel, flywheel nut, and 2 speed clutchbell, that came on my T-15 from my rs4 3 evo?

well, i decided on the T-15, with the 26mm HPI drift tires, split 6 charcoal 26mm wheels, and a Silvia GT 200mm body (my old body was trashed). are there any other pats that are NECESARy to drift my Rs 4 3 evo?

just a trustworthy driver who is ready fo some drifting

RE: **Stage D?**

Ok, well i just completed my order:
HPI Nitro Star T-15 Engine w/Pull Start
HPI Shock Spring 1.55mm Black
O.S. 101/102 Air Filter Elements (6)
HPI Stage-D 04S-26 Tire
HPI Split 6 Wheel 26m Charcoal
HPI Nissan Silvia GT Body 200mm
HPI Body Post Link Set Nitro 3

The car had a broken body, post and spring, so thats why there on the list. Grand total was $142 including shipping, which isnt all that much considering its almost like buying a new car becuase if i didnt buy these parts that car would probably sit on my shelf for a year before i did anything with it. im pumped for some drifting:) all i need is some paint ideas for the silvia body ( i dont have an airbrush, and im defiently not someone who brags but i consider my self to be preatty good at making good looking bodies with alot of masking and a few decals) i was thinking somthing involving a medium grey, a dark grey, and a darker grey (not quite black), too tie the paint job into the color of the wheels (there a light grey)

now i have somthing to bash instead of wasting my race tires for my 1/8th buggy.

so guys ive already got all the 2 speed gear combonations for the rs4 3 evo : yellow (for bottom end power), purple (stock, for mid-range power), and red (for top-end power). Which do you all reccomend i use with my T-15 and THS tuned pipe.

RE: **Stage D?**

the question isnt too complicted, just asking which gears i should use. On another note. My parts arrived, i already painted up the silvia Gt body "competition Orange" and the rear wing "metallic Black" its a very simple paint job, but i like the way it looks. I cant run the car with my new drift tires until i order a new clutchbell, and clutchbell bearings. but for know im content with just staring :)

RE: **Stage D?**

Use the yellows. Also, as soon as you tune the engine, enrich the mixture by 1/4 - 1/2 a turn to reduce operating temps.

RE: **Stage D?**

Im gonna break in the engine using regular tires, and then once its broken in, ill keep it running slightly rich, and use the drift tires.

RE: **Stage D?**

well, i finshed up the car, took a bunch of pics, and my PC isnt recognixing my camera, W/E. On a much heppier note, ive already broken in the car for 2 tanks, and expect to get 2 more in today, and probably finsih up the break-in tommorrow. I used the drift tires for like 2 mins of running, and becuase im breaking it in and i didnt wanna peg the throttle, but it showed me how awesome drifting will be once the engines broken in. CANT WAIT!!! :)

Rs43EVOman 11-13-2006 08:30 PM

RE: **Stage D?**

Finished my break-in of the car today, it took 7 tanks, but it was worth the wait. Ive sitll got the engine tuned preatty rich for drifting, but its got plenty of bottom end snap with the lower gearing i installed. this will officailly be my first attempt at nitro (or any okind for that matter) of drifting, and i can picture my self being terrible at it, but who cares im sure ill have fun. thanks to all the guys who helped me out with thwe little questions i had about drifting.

RE: **Stage D?**

Here's my setup;

HPI RS4 3 Evo
OS .18CVRX engine
red pinion gears
Front tires- yokomo drift
Rear tires- HPI slick drift
Front and rear solid stage D axles
White front and blue rear springs
NO STAGE D Conversion kit

Run's pretty decent for a nitro drift car. Anyone else have setups? From the T-15 to the .18 is some serious difference in power!

Rs43EVOman 11-14-2006 06:46 AM

RE: **Stage D?**

obviously theres a big jump in powwer between the .18CV-rx, and the T-15 :). But i dont really care, this car is just to mess around, thr buggy is the one im dumping all the $$$ into.
