Wheels
I know that when someone thinks about drifting upgrades the first thing they think of are the tires. I am fine with that but would like to know about what holds them, the rims. What are the best, not flashy or the widest but for profromence. I hate it when my rims crack after using my TT-01 but I don't want rims that are heavy and unatractive like the white one that are just circles. What rims are light weight and can take a drift with out looking like they where in Iraq?

RE: Wheels
HPI Concept Star rims..
2nd Question would lead me to ask, what do you Drift on?? If Using Pipe tyres, do you allow a 2mm overhang to protect your rims?? Chrome rims are the Worst to try and keep chip free as the chrome eventually chips off from minor impacts.. The Circle Rims or Disc Rims are often the lightest as they are approved for Racing keeping Strength and weight balanced, they can be made to look better with Rim Decals... |

ORIGINAL: magnat The Circle Rims or Disc Rims are often the lightest as they are approved for Racing keeping Strength and weight balanced, they can be made to look better with Rim Decals... Yes plus the fact that disks are banned from competition level. Don't get disks; they are ugly. Also HPI use a lower quality plastic to Tamiya. Get yourself some decent official tamiya rims. All the wheels in the range are reinmforced in a star pattern behind the design; to give the wheel strength. Cheaper wheels are often made of this lower quality plastic; many people lose spokes even when the wheel is under very little pressure! Trouble is; at the end of the day all rims get chipped. Chrome wheels look worse once this has happened; therefore black wheels look best as it is less visible. You can get aluminium wheels but they are expensive. Chris. |
RE: Wheels
Yea, you are right. The rims that the TT-01 came with where the best that I have had. I have been using the 10 spoke dark chrome from HPI. Do most hobby shops sells Tamiya rims or do you have to order them online? Also what websites sell Tamiya rims because all towerhobbys has are thoese orange rims that come stock.

RE: Wheels
Tower carries a ton of Tamiya wheels. You might want to search a little deeper.
