micro drifting m18 or rs4

I'm planning on getting into some micro drifting inside and am debating between an hpi rs4 drift kit or an m18 drift kit. I plan on doing some serious upgrades. Any suggestions?

Thanks

The micro RS4 drift looks pretty sweet. I haven't driven one yet, but from what I've read it's a really nice little ride.

Whats wrong with the Micro RS4 Drifters? You can turn the d-box to 0% anyway in which case its back to a normal micro car with drift ready tires out of the box. I've had a brief go of one and I thought it was quite good for a RTR.

Theres nothing wrong wit it. wats the point of buyin a rc wit a Dbox if ur guna turn it off?? As for tires jus get get a couple of those black film canisters n theres ur wheels.. if u want to u can jus remove the rear wheels n tighten up the rear axle n there u have it. Do u see wat im sayin now?? get aregular MRS4 kit or RTR n do these lil mods to it n ur set. Yes i do drift one myself n thats wat i started off wit n i still drift it ive only had to change the tires out once. N im using the stock motor. THANK U VERY MUCH...

Ok, now that you've actually explained your reasoning I have to agree. I think it all depends on how much DIY someone wants (and how much they are willing to spend hehe) :)

Considering HPI makes a drift specific Micro Rs4 definetly get the Rs4. The xray is the better handling car for serious racing, but for drifitng the HPI is the better buy.

im looking for an msr4 to drift around too i think those thing would be good with the fireball 380 motor do they make abs that small to fit those rims?

35 mm film canisters do jus fine homie... Im waitin to get paid so i could upgrade the motor. Ima stick wit HPI on that. Im not guna go all out. Im driftin on a small ***** budget. N there aint musch DIY involved. it took me like no more than ten minutes to size, cut, n fit the "tires". And yea that is all 4 n no i wasnt in a hurry. Its jus basic s#!+

I drift with a micro rs4 (no dbox) and I think the little thing handles pretty well. The only problem I have with it is: the engine is way to fast for a drift car. This means, I need to lay off the throttle a little.

I also have an m18 on its way with a graupner speed 300 motor. I haven't heard a lot about the motor but I've read its pretty sweet.

Also, the person I bought the m18 from is throwing in a penguin chassis for my rs4. I dont' know how much difference it'll do but... we'll see.

for grip racing, m18 is the way to go. for drifting, I guess it's preference.

I used to have the origanal MRS4 and it was a great little drifter. I hear the M18 has a smoother drive line but the rs4 is more for drifting than racing.

Racing:M18>RS4
Drifting:RS4>M18

hey guys I have a micro RS4 that Ive had for 2 yrs sitting on a shelve. Its fully stock besides an Novak SPY ESC. What would you guys recomend for hoop-ups towards a drifter besides ABS or PVC tires? Motor, suspention, chassis ETC. THANKS

try the 35mm film canisters i recommended. Theyve worked great 4 mee. I tried PVC. Its too slippy for that tiny car.

Jetas454ss,

have you tried the PVC tires? I am considering getting some HPI Drift tires to replace my PVC tires. The PVC is easy and VERY cheap, but is REALLY slippery. I am just wondering how the black film canisters compares to the PVC.

Let me know..thanks.

It seems that the drift tires from HPI are out of stock until mid. jan.

i drift my micro rs4 all the time, I don't have a Dbox but its very easy, i can even rubber tires drift if the pavement is wet, with the big block.

RE: micro drifting m18 or rs4

That is cool....but I dont want to have to wait for the pavement to be wet to drift.

The PVC trick is sweet.....and it is like driving on ICE, so drifting is so easy!!! but maybe not realistic. I would like a little more control.

Any tips on using the 35mm film cannisters????

Just thought of this....I have an Aktion RC 540 lipo (ready to run) just sitting......man I would love to put some drift tires on that baby...and do some major drifting!!! :)

yea i have tried PVC. Like i said its too slippy for that lil car. Ima try it out wen im done puttin together my TL01. til then all ima be drifting is my RS4 on the film canisters.

''United RC'' the canisters are slippy enuff to get it sliding but at the same time has enuff grip to do some technical driftin. Thas y i preffer it ovr PVC. N bout using the canisters PM me n il give better info. im too lazy to write it all rite now
