Which car better for drift ?
Hey, this is my 1st post :) well i want to get into drifting. wondering what cars would be good for drifting that are RTR and are good stock, with out any hop ups? A few car i am interested are the HPI Sprint 2, tt01, tt01d. Just wondering which of these are better for drifting in their stock form, or if there are any others that i should look into.

RE: Which car better for drift ?
Those are all pretty good cars. Every touring car is capable of drifting basically. The TT01 is known to be a great entry level drifter. The Sprint 2, I heard, is good as well. Although I would prefer a TT01 over a Sprint since the TT01 is a kit, and I always liked kits better than RTRs. But that's all based on your preference. The basic thing you need (and most important), is drifting tires. Most commonly, people get PVC/ABS pipe (2'' inner dia.), cut it to width of the rim, and slide it onto the rim. PVC works, but ABS is overall better to use. If you don't want to do that, and want to go a more expensive way, get yourself some Yokomo drift tires. I'm not exactly sure how they perform, but people suggest them. You can also get yourself Tamiya's set of drift tires that come stock in the TT01D kit (TT01D is drift spec, out of the box). So if you're looking for a good drifter, out of the box, I would get the TT01D kit for now. The stock tires don't drift amazingly on rough grippy surfaces, but they perform great on smooth treated surface like garage pavement.
So good luck to you, and if you have any more question - ask away =). |
RE: Which car better for drift ?
if i get a tt01 is it better to change the motor ? if so what kind of motors are good for drifting? what exactly is a; for example "19 turn motor"? what do turns mean, and how many are good for drift ? i'm learning a decent amount from reading the threads, but i still have questions like these before i make a purchase. Thanks for helping a noob out :D

RE: Which car better for drift ?
Turns is how many times the wire goes around the comm on the motor. basicly the less turns a motor has, the faster it is RPM wise. the more turns it has, the more torque. for drifting a decent 27 turn (also called stock) motor will do you just fine. I'll let someone who as a tt-01 tell you if the motor it comes with is good for drifting.

RE: Which car better for drift ?
There are many factors to consider when Choosing Your Drift Chassis..
I Drift Both the TT-01 and the Sprint2 and the Sprint 2 has the edge over the TT01D. BUT! The Sprint 2 is a belt Drive.. so it will really Depend on if you can get access to Belts on a regular Basis. The Sprint 2 comes with a 17x2T Motor or Saturn 20T both are Better motors then what come with a Stock TT01..(TT-01D's Sports Tuned is a Great motor) As Far as Handling Goes, the Sprint2 is easily the Better Handling Chassis but the TT01 is a Stronger Build. For Carpark Meets, the TT01 wins with its Shaft Reliability For Track Drift, the Sprint 2 as it handles alot better... Either TT-01 You get will need an Alloy Propshaft and a Wheel Bearing kit.. The Sprint 2 will Drift Stock with no need to Lock the Diffs, just a Tyre Change to PVC or ABS.. |

The stock motor that comes with a TT01 is both pretty damn fast and is great for drifting it.

RE: Which car better for drift ?
he magnat, did you miss me? well you can find plenty of drive belts from the right source, towerhobbies. and on my opinion, no car is perfect; they all have their flaws. but it depends on YOUR driving style folks. sure the tt01 is one heck of a drifter. I know alot of others drift cars besides it. I would choose both anyway. one can be your competition drifter and the other can be for practice.
If Im not makin any sense to you, jus let me know and ill brea it down to you ORIGINAL: magnat There are many factors to consider when Choosing Your Drift Chassis..
