V One SII drifting?
 

Hey guys, I just bought a Kyosho V One SII that is completely stock (GS 15R engine, tyres, shocks....), and was wondering can this car be used for drifiting? If so, what is the setup (suspension, differential, etc.) n what are the tyres that need to be used? Can it drift as stock or do I have to buy new tyres n shocks....?

I read a lot about RS4's n Tamiya's but not much on V-One's......if there are any other V-One owners out there please let me know....I have a ton of questions about the car and the engine n all....

i've got a V one S with a nitro star T15, HPI rims, PVC tires, and ajusted supension. every thing else is stock. i used to race with the factory GS 15R but i broke the piston link, so i went to the T15 and decided to start drifting. i raised the ride height of the car and gave the supension more travel and softened the shocks up abit. it's not much work but it does the job well. i've been drifting my V one about six months now, i'm still new at it but i'm getting better and more comfortable with the car.

the stock setup on the V on SII is similar to the V one S so just raise the hieght, slap on some drift tires and hit the road.

thanks man for the reply...what are drifting tyres? Can I buy them ready or do I have to make them?

And so I don't need to change the differential grease from the stock grease that's supplied?

And how are you finding your V One....is it a good car? was the GS-15R a good engine (before it broke)? Got any pics? Oh are there any sites or forums dedicated to this car that you know of?

my cuz handed the V one down to me, he bought it when it was first out and has had alot of fun with it, he never had to change anything on the car so i got it stock. he told me the gs 15 was a great engine. he never had any trouble with it. when i got it, i cleaned up the car abit brushing of the dirt on the car and tried to start it after ajusting the rich/lean needle it ran great. lots of power for the old engine. befor i broke it i never had trouble with it, it would start right up when i was ready to go. the reason it broke was because i got greedy and leaned the fuel to much and ran it hard, real hard. just keep the fuel alitle rich and don't get greedy, you'll be thankful you did.

as for drift tires. i went with the yokomo single wide ring drift tires when i started, they were costly but i had some fun with them. the other down side to them is that they wear out way too quick on a nitro car. i got like 5 or 6 tanks with them befor they wore out. then i switched to PVC. PVC pipe is cheap and durable, they are slippery though but with alitle time and practice i got used to them quick.

to build PVC tires you need 2 inch inner diameter PVC pipe. cut them however wide you want the width of you tires to be, mine are aprox. 1.5 inches wide. i cut them that size giving a lip to protect the rims. to mount the PVC tires, you could either heat them up like some have done but i find that a little risky. i sanded my rims down just a bit until i was able to push the PVC onto the rim it's very easy . after they'r mounted i used some tire glue around the edge of the rim were it meets the PVC and waited until it settled and then mounted them and started practicing.

it felt like i was driving on ice at first but, eventualy i got the hang of it and started gaining control of the car. have a light fingrer on the throtle because nitro cars have more than enought power to drift.

i've never even opened the dif case and i haven't found any forums on the V one's yet.

unfortunately i don't have a digital camera (too poore right now to get one) so no pics yet sorry.
