this is currently the shell sitting on my ride. i bought a couple of cheap sets of abs tires for drifting. the car is a tc4 and powered by a mamba 7700 with a hitec digital 5925 servo and jrs radio. the car is not a full time drifter (obvious by the motor selection) I hope to track down some new visual mods and the final show body will be a Supra. |
RE: POST A PIC OF YOUR DRIFTER THREAD!!!!!!!!!
what brand is the shell? it looks nice
|
RE: POST A PIC OF YOUR DRIFTER THREAD!!!!!!!!!
thanks for compliments on the elise. I do like the body, came out better than what I expected, just messing around with an airbrush. I also like how the onroad bodies look so realistic. I have a Saleen Mustang and a Chevy Silverado waiting to be painted.
I havn't been drifting for a while but i'll get back into it. I wish I knew someone around here that also does it. Right now it's just me in front of my house. It's fun though. |
RE: POST A PIC OF YOUR DRIFTER THREAD!!!!!!!!!
E30 trash, wow.
Are those the new rims where you can adjust offset? I LOVE the offset look. It's too nice to be driven. hehe. |
RE: POST A PIC OF YOUR DRIFTER THREAD!!!!!!!!!

My first electric, first kit, first paintjob. Just painted it today and built it a few days ago. Used blue medium adhesion 14 day scotch painters tape to mask the windows.
Looks better in real life because you cant see all the tiny scratches and dust, looks worse because you can see the paint bleeds/leaks. |
RE: POST A PIC OF YOUR DRIFTER THREAD!!!!!!!!!
Man, just looking through the pages, and alot of nice bodies, but at least for me its completely ruined by the field goal body posts. Is there a reason why you guys kleave them so long, or no?

RE: POST A PIC OF YOUR DRIFTER THREAD!!!!!!!!!
hey guys nice cars
mine is not really a drifter, although it is set up to drift with tyres and a few hop-ups[&:] anyway i just wanted to show off my new shell lol so here it is a HPI 1968 Chevrolet Camaro, in dark metallic blue (Tamiya Spray can PC-16) half way thru the stickering http://p7.piczo.com/img/i103306544_98996_7.jpg and after it was finished http://p7.piczo.com/img/i103305555_36510_7.jpg http://p7.piczo.com/img/i100359368_37981_7.jpg http://p7.piczo.com/img/i101550075_85814_7.jpg http://p7.piczo.com/img/i101627047_24753_7.jpg it looks better in real, the photo's were took on my phone lol |

RE: POST A PIC OF YOUR DRIFTER THREAD!!!!!!!!!
Hpi Makes extenders for that I hear. It extends the body post to the front of the car, ad then you make how tall you want it to be.
|
RE: POST A PIC OF YOUR DRIFTER THREAD!!!!!!!!!
Here's pics of my new shell. I had to buy extended posts to accomodate the hatchback of the body. I thought green would be ugly but, in my opinion, I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

Rcluke, WHOA!!!!!
I want that shell badly. If you wake up tomorrow and your shell is missing. don't blame me. That shell is too hotttttttt. |
RE: POST A PIC OF YOUR DRIFTER THREAD!!!!!!!!!
Ok, i dont really understand the HPI extender thing. Does it allow you to move to body posts forward, or backward so it will mount better? What i was talking about was how alot of you guys never timmed your body posts.
|
RE: POST A PIC OF YOUR DRIFTER THREAD!!!!!!!!!
they make adjustable body posts. kinda like the antenna on your radio. it moves up and down to extend. im guessing thats what they are talking about.

RE: POST A PIC OF YOUR DRIFTER THREAD!!!!!!!!!
Well the main reason I dont cut the body posts anymore is because I got caught out once on my TT-01 chasis. I cut the body posts down to fit one set of wheels and body but then when I put another body shell on with different tires all of a sudden the tires would rub or the front tires would rub when steering. Due to that sort of thing I leave them now because on Tamiya cars its a pain to try and track down a new set of body posts. Usually you cant buy them on their own and you have to buy a whole parts bag (like the whole "B" parts bag for the TT-01 for example).

RE: POST A PIC OF YOUR DRIFTER THREAD!!!!!!!!!
well the ones I seen were for the front. They move it forward so the post look lower.

RE: POST A PIC OF YOUR DRIFTER THREAD!!!!!!!!!
I thought about using those HPI post extenders from my Sprint2 on my TT-01 when I cut the posts too low but I found that the TT-01 body posts arent as wide as the HPI ones and the extender wobbled around. I managed to get rid of the wobble with some electrical tape but in the end I just bought a new set of posts for the TT-01 because I didnt feel like cutting bigger holes in my bodyshell and left the posts long for whatever body I throw at it later on.
