2 Things:
Tamiya Connectors, Good god, get rid of those.. I used to love them, til they melted down -_-
Venom Battery..
They're fine... But you could be using so much better batties, and get outstanding performance.

RE: POST A PIC OF YOUR DRIFTER THREAD!!!!!!!!!

yeah i haven't finished putting it all together yet i have the aluminum drive shaft still has to go in and i have 2 dura trax 4200nihm batt as well as the venom

RE: POST A PIC OF YOUR DRIFTER THREAD!!!!!!!!!

Deans, definitely, I personally use the T-Ones from HobbyCity.
God, I must have at least 20 pairs of those, and now have 3 pairs now.... -_-

But, when one of mine go out, I will be picking up TRX connectors, but PowerPole's first.
Those are used in Aviation, where at least 75 amps continuous going through a circuit board, where resistance is definitely a no-no..
.005 resistance, and they will start shopping for some better connectors..

EDIT:
Main reason why I might end up going powerpole's is because you can crimp...... When I switched to Deans, I spent at least 12 hours switching over 20 connectors..
That, was a pain..
I invested in some nice burn oil.

RE: POST A PIC OF YOUR DRIFTER THREAD!!!!!!!!!

i was going to make my future-drifter to all deans. that only means 3 connectors for me but do u have to solder them on, and is there a noticeable increase in performance?

rawfuls 02-04-2009 09:40 PM

RE: POST A PIC OF YOUR DRIFTER THREAD!!!!!!!!!

Yes, solder, and yes quite a bit of performance, for just plugs.

So,here's the info on mine.Picked up an NTC3 Team Factory addition with a crap load of hop ups.First off,all of the Factory Team parts available are on here, titanium chassis,AE EFRA 2603 pipe,Novarossi (TOP) T12LT3 or LT5(Can't tell exactly which one it is,but I have came to the conclusion of it being one of these due to the markings and design of the motor),JR Racing XS3Pro Transmitter,JR RS310 Reciever,JR Racing Z270 Throttle Servo,JR Racing Z590M steering servo, rear Anti Sway Bar,one set of medium foams on stock rims, and another set of rubber tires,Acura NSX widebody,Nissan Skyline R32 widebody, and new Nissan Skyline R34 GTR body(not yet painted).Came with a bunch of extra parts for replacements for anything that breaks, screws, tools, rtc.About $1600 in to this car.Going to pick up a set of drift tires and rims, and another starter box.

Nice job! looks real good....

Looking at this i start to think about changing my TA05R into a drifter. There is no track here anywhere and i rarely use it anymore, would be a nice challenge to learn how to go sideways!

Aye guys, this might be a lil off topic but i need some help with a decision. Bout a year ago i got a TT01D, its pretty basic an getting a lil boring. So i was thinking of getting a new drift chassis. Maybe a Tamiya TA 05 IFS. Is this a good idea. Or should i stick to the TT01D and modify that becuase everyone says the TA 05 is so much better (smoother, handling, acceleration).

RE: POST A PIC OF YOUR DRIFTER THREAD!!!!!!!!!

Another option is the Team Associated TC4 and converting it to a drift car. (btw if you guys decide to advise me to get the TA 05 what motor and ESC recomenddations-stick with the old motor or go with a new package

I'm rolling a FT TC4 w/ 8.5 Novak Slydr. Excellent set up. I use a one way in the front and a spool in the rear. Where I live, I don't have anywhere that supports Tamiya, so Associated was a better choice for me. I think it's a VERY solid choice.
