Problem building Ta05

so, yah my ta05 showed up today. Ive just finiushed the step where you build the front and rear ball diffs. In the manual it says not to over tighten the long screw that goes through the whole diff, and it also says that if i hold both out drives i shouldnt be able to turn the center pully. Ive done all that,b ut i need to know how thight i should tighten the long bolt that goes through the diff??

Hey while your at the diff stage you may want to consider locking the rear diff while you have out ;)

RE: Problem building Ta05

Good Idea, but Id see how it goes without first, then modify it. Thats jus me talking though

that bolt thats going through both outdrives, tighten it to about a lil more than hand tight, then come out about 1 turn

RE: Problem building Ta05

Well, just finished up the whole drive train!! Calling it quits for the night. from what ive heard the rest of the build is preatty straight foward, so im gonna get it done tommorrow, only to rip it all apart in a couple of week to install the hop-ups :) i have one question though. Is it me or are all the screws used during the making of the diff housing, and mounting it all to the chassis incredibly hard to turn, or what? My hands are killing me right now. Plus the fact that im using a crappy screwdriver might not be helping much.

lol when i built my TA04 the diff screws sucked to put in. i feel your pain there, dont ask me why but i had to build it all in one day and i did. about 8hrs later i was done. did you get any blisters yet???

RE: Problem building Ta05

Nah havent had any blisters, but my pinky fingernail started cutting into the skin, and bleeding a little. Put on a band-aid, and that kept it from getting any worse. I wanna know does any companies ell hex screw kits for the ta05? i like hex screws sooo much more, and if any companies make kits i would definetly buy one.

Ok, i found one made by Rcscrewz. Ive bought a bunch fo kits form them before so i definetly gonna get this one.

Rs43EVOman 01-04-2007 12:39 AM

RE: Problem building Ta05

No, hex screws instead of the philps ones that come with the car.

RE: Problem building Ta05

yeah, except its a kit made specifically for the ta05, and comes with a bunch of extras too. Rcscrewz and tony screws are the 2 best companies.

RE: Problem building Ta05

Ok, well im gonna get startee back up with building in about 45 mins. I definetly should finish up today, and then i can go to my LHs tommorrow to have them solder my esc and motor. Plus im gonna switch out the connectors for Deans.

Spartan-Drifter 01-04-2007 03:59 PM

RE: Problem building Ta05

Deans are superb. Hey what you can do with your motor to increase battery life and reaction, just use the wire from the esc and solder it to the motor

driftdriftdrift 01-04-2007 08:24 PM

RE: Problem building Ta05

good choice on the deans. less resistance than the stock tamiya connectors, and another good choice with the direct solder from ESC to motor which also cuts down on resistance

RE: Problem building Ta05

Ok gys im just checking to make sure i dont have a problem here. When i have the gear mesh set perfectly, the car wont roll. When i back the motor away so the gears arent touching. the car rolls great. the ta05 doesnt have a slipper cluth, so it makes sense that this would happen, but i just wanna make sure.

RE: Problem building Ta05

i used an electric driver when putting mine together. it was the best way because all i had was a little hand driver. i didnt strip one thing, i just had to turn the clutch downa ll the way.

RE: Problem building Ta05

Yeah when I roll mine it donsen't move, unless you want to turn over the motor.
