TT-01 R Conversion to Drift
Hi, I am interested in a TT01 for drifting, but except for PVC tyres, what else would I need? (I am an experienced hobbyist so I have charger, batts, Tx, Rx, etc.)
|
RE: TT-01 R Conversion to Drift
nothing. all you need to change a standard 4wd kit to a drift kit is tires, which in your case is pvc, though abs is also an option if you can find any where you are.

RE: TT-01 R Conversion to Drift
you may wanna stiffen up the suspension a lil bit to m8 ;)
|
RE: TT-01 R Conversion to Drift
Oh I dont know about stiffening it. I think the TT-01R comes with springs etc that are just right for drifting.
|
RE: TT-01 R Conversion to Drift
r is more racing than drifting, get other springs, soft fron and stiff back.
and tighten up the diffs |
RE: TT-01 R Conversion to Drift
R is more racing??? The TT-01R is the rally version.
|
RE: TT-01 R Conversion to Drift
tt01r is full hop up not rally!!!! better suiter for racing. otherwise it woulhv come with 60mm dampers etc.

ORIGINAL: Hyper 10s Sideways you may wanna stiffen up the suspension a lil bit to m8 ;) |
RE: TT-01 R Conversion to Drift
Well, that's easy, because I have a lot of shock and diff oils from 1/8 nitro and 1/10 electric...
does the TT01R have ball or planetary diffs? Is it generally durable? Are there hopups I need for drifting besides those included? Thanks for the help guys, the TT01 is cheap and I have electronics that I can put in it already. |
RE: TT-01 R Conversion to Drift
Just buy the TT01 drift spec Subaru and you wont have to buy anything!!!

RE: TT-01 R Conversion to Drift
Apart From Tyre Change: Nothing.
The TT-01R is indeed the Race Spec TT-01 with Ballbearings, Alloy Prop shaft and Oil Filled Shocks Standard.. There is Nothing You need to Change at all.. On a Stock TT-01, the only Changes you need to make it Drift is an Alloy propshaft and Wheel Bearing kit.. People have had a "Bouncing Issue" with a Stock TT-01, this isnt caused by the Shocks this is caused by the Stock 27T silvercan not producing Enough High RPM to keep the Polypipe Tyres rotating Quick enough. Oil Shocks are not essential, they are a good upgrade but not essential.. . |
RE: TT-01 R Conversion to Drift
How about a TB-02? I just realized that I can get a much better deal on a TB-02... Thanks for the help, guys!
|
RE: TT-01 R Conversion to Drift
yes, a tb-02 is a good chassis. it has everything the tt-01 has(or atleast i'm pretty sure it does), plus more. it has a ball diff in the front and back and if you wanted to upgrade it in the future, i believe there are better hopups, or atleast from tamiya because it can use suspension parts from better chassis'. only problem with the tb02 is taht it has weak diff screws. they are direct swaps with the hpi diff screws, which are stronger and so just pick up a pack of hpi diff screws so taht you'll have some at hand when your tb02 diff screws brake.

RE: TT-01 R Conversion to Drift
The TB-02 is a Plastic Version of the Race Bred TB-Ev03. A Brilliant Chassis..
Correct, it Does have the Weak Diff Screw problem.. The TT-01 is Just more user friendly.. |
RE: TT-01 R Conversion to Drift
Alright, HPI diff screws are a cheap mod, so sounds like TB02 it is... (also going to get some nice fancy hopups)
Hopups I am going to get with purchase or immediately after: 1. Alu motor mount 2. HPI diff screws 3. a set of shock springs so I can swap those around 4. drift tires/ good looking chrome wheels, because it is going to be a street machine anyways. 5. alu propeller shaft |
RE: TT-01 R Conversion to Drift
Batteries not included,hahahahaha.
|
RE: TT-01 R Conversion to Drift
go for the tt01r, its cheap and you get alot of hopups and a good motor.
just get some pe tyres and you a for away |
RE: TT-01 R Conversion to Drift
Thanks for the help, guys! TB02 it is! Because I can just take off the tyres and put on street tyres and handle well as a typical racer too! Sounds good... now time to find the best deal :-P
