New To Rc Drifting.
I've seen some TT-01 but my budget is $200+ so i wanted to check out other rc ones. What would you guys suggest to get? I've seen this one that i think is good. What do you guys think?[link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXPVL2&P=7]HPI Spring 2 Drift[/link]

RE: New To Rc Drifting.
It's not bad. Just know that it is belt driven. It will do fine if you have funds for some new belts every now and then. All you need to do is check the belts after every run and make sure there is nothing that is gonna take the belt out or something. But it is a good car from what I have read on it. if you want more of an oppinion I would wait for magnat to give it. He has both if I remeber and knows a lot about both the tt-01 and sprint 2.

get the TT

RE: New To Rc Drifting.
Would u suggest shaft driven or belt? Which one is better?
|
RE: New To Rc Drifting.
it depends really, shaft has the dreaded torque steer. though the shaft will not be affected by rocks and such, belts are more prone to rock damage (no problems with my belt driven drifter yet though) but belt driven cars transfer power more effciently and are quieter.
i prefer belt over shaft any day. torque steer sucks. |
RE: New To Rc Drifting.
Do you suggest that i get the HPI Spring 2 Drift kit? Its belt driven and it looks good. Or would you suggest another rc car? Thanks for the info.

m8 the sprint 2 wins hands down get that one jus keep off surfaces with small rocks and you will be just fine;)

RE: New To Rc Drifting.
torque steer is pretty much the car pulling to one side due to the rotational mass of the drive shaft. when i had my t-spec it pulled to the right because that was the way the driveshaft was turning. the lower friction tires you have the more noticible it is.

RE: New To Rc Drifting.
1:1 cars have DREADED torque steer. Niether my TC4 nor my MR4TC have DREADED torque steer. Matter fact, it's barely noticeable. And power delivery is spot on as well.
Belt vs Shaft is preference. Think of it like this. If you can afford belts every once in a while (it's not like it's a constant thing cuz they rarely break) then get belt driven. If you can't, get shaft. Don't feel that by getting a belt that you'll have to constantly replace it if you do a lot of drifting on concrete and whatnot. Stuff CAN get in the belts but it's not as common as everyone makes it out to be. Just as torque steer in shaft driven cars isn't as horrible as people make it out to be. There is no "better". there's just preference. You're drifting. Not racing. Being as such, the tuning does not have to be as precise. Both cars have pros and cons. Good luck with your drifting. |
RE: New To Rc Drifting.
Its me again , im currently waitting until they restock the HPI Sprint 2 Drift but i was looking around in rc online stores and i found this [link=http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=ShowSpecification&ItemID=24618&menu_ path=NWM]Yokomo[/link] its a R-T-D , Ready to Drift and it has a body too but not over $250.
