hey guy's i'm another newbie to the world of rc drifting. i'm about to buy a tt 01 wit a 2003 Skyline GT-R. i've been searching around and i've seen mods that need to b done in order to actually drift. ie, lock diff, aluminum drive shaft and PVC or ABS tires for slipage. i'm kinda on a tight budget, so, what other mods should i du in order for me to drift? and not digging out alot of cash?

adventually i'd like my car to look like the skyline in 2 fast 2 furious

You should just get a Sprint 2. And then you can get a front one way and lock up the rear diff and your set.

Locking the diff is not necessary to start, but nice to have eventually.

the sprint 2 drift is a good call, but good luck trying to find one instock. I had the hardest time finding one.

A great alternative to the sprint2, if you cant find one is the Himoto Nascada RTR. They are very cheap, and are RTR. Do a search here under drifting for it, or go to ebay.

Either way.....the really only thing you need to start drifting is a set of the drift tires or ABS. The sprint2 Drift will come with them, but if you go with another RTR, like the Nascada, you can purchase a set of ABS tires to mount on a set of rims for $6 (http://sflrcdrift.com/)

so ur saying that the sprint 2 is a better deal then the tt 01? hmm....i was just looking at it and without the shell is looks sick...lol, i'll look into it, i'm from canada, so i may beable to find this or order it somehow...lol

But keep in mind that the Sprint 2 is belt and if running on rough surfaces can be a bit risky

The TT-01 is shaft so rough is ok

The Sprint 2 can easily take on a rough surface just like any shaft car. Just a little modification, and you can pretty much run it on any surface up against any shaft car.

the thing i'm worried is about the belt breaking alot, and forking up the money for it. i've been looking at the followin cars

i've read that the sprint 2 is an overall good car for smooth surfaces, but if i want to go on the road other then my smooth driveway, just to fool around ain't i risking the belt? while the tt01(d) can go on any surface, but will need enough upgrades to full fill a decent drift session.

and......

what mod can i du for is to run on any surface?....i have't seen it in the forum. percentage wise, 75% i'll probably get the HPI because of it's many tweeking features, but 70% for the tt01(d) because of it's many running surfaces and low maintenence.

At the end it is your choice do you want a belt or a shaft,

There 2 different worlds,

but remember belt is silent and no torque steer

I Drift a Sprint 2 and this is the Last thing I would ever do..

The Sprint 2 drifts perfectly stock.. no need for a front 1-way (Which infact ruins Technical drift applications as the front free-wheels under brake applications) and the chassis is balanced enough not to need a locked rear...

If Your Looking at getting a car for Social Bashing then the TT-01R is the way to go

I have Drifted a HPI Pro 4 with a Front 1-way and it was an understeering dog...
Great for racing, not so good for Drifting

On a Side note:

HPI have released a New Chassis which is a Shaft drive called the E10

Its aimed at taking on the Budget Chassis Thunder from the TT-01..

I would be Waiting for the reviews on it before rushing off to get a TT-01.
It comes RTR and is supposed to be priced cheaper then a TT-01 RTR

For the belt, all you have to do is take off the differential casing.

thanks for the advice, i'm gonna think it over...any mayb wait for a review for thr HPI E10. if it's crap i'll probably go wit the sprint 2 drift, cuz it comes withe evything, while the tt01 u need to buy alot of stuff......
