RE: Pros and Cons on One-Way front Diff
The car wll act as if you pulled the handbrake, and it will be easier to maintain a slide.

ball diffs are smother, i have one in the front of my tt01
bevel gears are lockable and can hold a drift for longer and tunable with diff solutions and thickness of the substance you use to lock it with.. ball diffs are used for carpets and road racing as they offer smoother movement, but are not totaly lockable..., although they can be tightend fairly well.. ive ball diff my front, and locked rear in blue-tac...that is the best set-up i have found out to be so far.. i have tried ball diffs front and rear, just didnt do it for me...:( |

so is locking the front the same as a front oneway? cuz i have a TB02

RE: Pros and Cons on One-Way front Diff
No, totally locking the front is not the same as running a front one way. A front one way combined with a totally locked rear, reduces the amount of understeer you would otherwise get from locking the front fully, but still allows for nice long controlled slides. The front one way also acts almost like a hand brake would on a 1:1 drift car as someone else here already pointed out, allowing for weight transfer to the front when entering a corner.
For my style of driving the one way allows me to pretty much steer the car exactly where I want it to go once I've initated the slide. Before I had the one way in there I would constantly have to fight understeer to get the car excatly where I want it. |
