T-Spec Problem

What up fellas. I'm new to drifting. I bought a T-spec (yes because it's cheap). I'm running the 21t motor it came with. 0 degree camber all around. With ABS tires on a tennis court for the most part. Sometimes purple foams on a hardwood floor. Everything was fine for the first dozen or so runs.

Then I tighten the rear diff down. Drifting control was improved. However after 2 runs on a tennis court and 2 on the hardwood floors, i destroyed the diff ring gear (stripped teeth) and the bevel gear. I assume this happen b/c of the tightened diff? I bought a new diff but now I'm hesitant to lock it up. But i did like the drift control it provided.

Any suggestions? I want a locked rear diff but i dont' want to destroy it again...

nope its just a design flaw in the t-spec. i ate through quite a few, maybe if enough people fuss at trinity they would make a stronger gear.

i was really hoping that was not the case. after all the reading it did on the t-spec i never came across it as a weak sauce drifter...

RE: T-Spec Problem

I was looking at the T-Spec also when I was looking for a touring car. Yes also because it was cheap. I read in several forums about stripped gears in the drive train. That seems to be the weakest point of the car, that and Trinity's total lack of parts support. I'd order a whole bunch of gears as back ups if I was in your place. Nothing sucks more than expecting a day of racing/bashing only to drop a gear and having to quit early.

if you want to keep the t-spec do some experimenting with the rear differential. I heard Pro4 parts fit some things in the rear end. heck if you had a place that could cast metal and such you might be able to get some metal gears done

i heard about swaping pro4 parts, but not the diff ring gear which is the problem. if you hear or know of swaping out the whole diff set up please let me know, i'll try it and post results.

Yup, u would need to change the whole diff,

and you might have to mod the case of the Pro4 for it to work!
