RE: rc18t drifter?
one of the important things about drifting is the differentials...
I recommend locking your rear differential. Once you get ABS or PVC on the wheels, or you get 1/10 wheel adapters with some sort of drifting tire on them, lock the rear differential and then start playing around with it... you'll start to get a feel for what other adjustments might need to be made after that. |
RE: rc18t drifter?
But bylocking the rear diff can i still jump and race it around my house?

RE: rc18t drifter?
Not a stupid idea, I drift my rc18t a lot. Since it has ball diffs you can lock and unlock them at will. Just tighten it down for drifting and loosen it back up when you want to drive with traction. Not too tight though.
I would not drive normally with a locked diff. I did and broke the bolt that holds it together. You might get away with it on dirt or grass, but not on tar. Also, it will handle better with an open diff. As a note 2" PVC pipe (and probably ABS) will fit over a set of worn out stock tires. |

Thanks, were puting in tile at my house, so i have been practicing on it and get some cool drifts. How do i lock the diffs?

RE: rc18t drifter?
Basically, with the truck facing away from you, remove the left rear suspension link from the top of the gearbox. Remove the dogbone, don't lose the small spring in there. Stick your small allen key in there and turn the bolt on the diff about 1/2 turn clockwise. Reassemble and test. Look in your manual for a diagram, it explains this procedure.

I put some electrical tape on the tires, works great, didn't lock the diff though. Report back after trying.
