New good drift car

Hey guys I need a a good car for drifting around $250 US. Not over $300 US. I prefer shaft driven over belt drive. I want the drifts to be reasonably fast but smooth drifts. I will be driving it in my garage/street and hopefully racing at a carpet track. I want it to be RTR so I don't have to go around and buy different things. I'm going to be buying the car from a website (I don't think I can list the site) that I will be buying parts for. I was thinking of buying a TC4 by Associated but someone at my hobbyshop said that they are discontinuing lots of stuff lately and that they do not sell RTR's anymore. Oh, and list the drift tires that I should buy so it fits with the car. Please list any other RTR cars that are good drifters. -Thanks! =]

Yokomo Drift Package...zero 1 or zero 2 tires are good...all the tires will interchange with whatever car...I tend to use drift ring tires for smaller tracks, then use something like the HPI super'Ds for wide open brushless sliding.

Also check out the Cyclone s

The Tamiya's are too low of a performance, I mean like not as tunable as the TC4's and stuff. The Yokomo's are way too expensive, but they look like they are very good. So how about the TC4's? My friend from a hobby shop said that the Team Associated were discontinuing stuff lately so I don't want to buy a TC4 and not have parts. So what other cars should i try out? $270 US and under please.

all drift tires fit cars as long as long as u have a normal rim size or u can goo to tower and see the rim size and match the one to what u have on ur car

cyclone s > tc4 for drifting. I have both and unless you have the tc4 dialed it will be super squirly where as my cyclone is not dialed for anything and it drifts pretty smooth.

Whoa, bold statement there bro. I have a tamiya TA-05 and it is just an tunable, if not more than the TC4. Plus tamiya's are what most of the pro's in D1RC are using.

Can you list the product because I don't really understand the Type A or Type D thing.

TC4 all the way hands down.

if you want an RTR you can get a great start with either the HPI Sprint 2 drift or the Hot Bodies Cyclone. Both are good w/out any hop ups because they already come with the necessities which the TT-01 lacks.

plus its noob friendly because the power response is more friendly.

The tc4 will be around for a while and you will be able to find a lot of parts for it

i AGREE, from what i hear AE is not going to make a RTR TC5. The TC5 was made purely for racing, and the RTR TC4 is still selling great. IMO the factory team TC4 will be discontinued cuz of the TC5, but not the toned down TC4 RTR.

i just factory team converted my rtr and it sweeeeeeeeeeeeet!! so if u want a factory team tc4 later on you can always get the conversion kit, but i still say cyclone s > tc4

So which type of drift tires will fit the TC4? Can someone tell me the difference between the Type A, Type D thing?

RE: New good drift car

Go for Cyclone S

RE: New good drift car

The HPI Type A tires are really grippy and are designed to use for nitro drifting. I would suggest Type T's if you are looking for a tire.
