Keeping a drift

I currently can not maintain a drift over longer corners .. I always end up getting grip and then cornering instead of keeping up the drift.
I am guessing that is because i dont have enought tourqe. No i am running an xray t2r stock setup with a taniya super sport and an 84/18t.
HPI drift tires.

Now i read alot of people using 23t motor pinions but as i understand to get more tourque i would have to reduce my motor pinion size.
So do i go to a 16T or even 14T ... or to a 20T-22T to get more wheel spin. Or is my motor just not putting enought out and i need to go
with something completly different.

Whats with tightening the rear diff. I read that does help?

As you can see i read alot and i managed to confuse myself ... any help would be appriciated.

you need to go with different tires. try abs instead of the hpi drifts (if they are the radials). you need a pretty fast motor to keep those loose. it also helps breaking the tires in too.

Lock the rear diff, because that can help with long corners too.

also try the 14 and 16t gears, they will give you more torque

Follow up:

I tightend the rear diff down and installed a 15t ... down form the 18t ... what a difference. Solved that problem.
