nitro 4tec drifting (video)

I know it is crapy drifting but I was just messing around. I put the tops of spray paint cans over a set of foams then cut off the extra plastic.

I might run electric tape over them for a bit more traction.

Just thought id share the vid.

you should try abs pipe. it's a noticeable diff. in grip.

i hope you take this as constructive criticism but you seriously need to work on your throttle response.... anyone who has ever drifted a full size car sucessfully knows that you only suggest which direction you want the car to go with the steering. you actually turn the car with the throttle... work on not letting your car go to an idle in the middle of a drift because you're basically letting it fall out of the sky so to speak.. ive been drifting rc cars before drifting them was ever popular.... me and the neighborhood kids used to duct tape the tires on our wal-mart specials we got for christmas and see who could "slide them the furthest without flippin them". countersteer mearly keeps the car from over rotating into the corner... ok imma shut up now cause im babbling about the mechanics of drifting.... keep working on it, and drive it with the throttle...

also since u have nitro u may just want to go with drift radials.

I was pretty sure I was doing it wrong but I realy didnt care. Just messin around. The set up I had there was just way to slick. I am going to look into some drifting tires though. That way it will get a little more bit and might be a little eaiser to control.

Thanks for the tips.

You got to practice your thorttle control, and get more grip on those tires.:D

Good stuff man, your car is alot better on the speed runs though. Dont use Polypipes or ABS on a nitro. It barely has any grip, it wont turn and youll over-rev your engine to bits. Get drift radials/rubbers lets you drift at faster speeds.

I dont see why people critise your drifting though.. your tyres are utterly homemade, its your first time drifting, its a heavy nitro car and its just for fun

Heres how its done:

Stick with the ABS and learn more throttle control. Here is a vid of mine that I have thrown on here a few times, you can do a lot with nitro drifting!

Thanks, im probably gonna try the PVC tires this weekend to see if I cant get a little more traction. If that doesnt work ill just buy a set of drifting tires.

ABS is better. PVC is too slick making it easy to spin out

My buddy does irrigation and he has a ton of PVC pipe. Thats how I was going to make them. What is ABS? Just go to the Home Depot and look around? Is it pipe?

Yeah, its basically the same thing as PVC, but the compound is slightly softer, which gives a touch more traction compared to PVC, and its usually black so it looks like normal tires. I have used both and I don't plan on using PVC again.

abs will be to slick for nitro drifting. your best bet would be to use HPI type A tires.

Do you think i can make my Rc18t a drift car by making
it Rear Wheel Drive(2wheeldrive) , lowering the car and putting Abs ?????

RE: nitro 4tec drifting (video)

You dont need to make it 2wd, doing that will make it incontrollable. All you need is slap on some drift tyres. Something like these:
