Possible Problem...

Hi Guys,

I brought an RC Car last night, and when I go and pick it up the guy said the charger was stuffed. He said that he'd get it fixed and give the car to me for $260 instread of $305. Like, yay!

I asked him if I could see it running and he reckoned there was a little charge left in one of the batteries. So he plugs it in and presses the forward button, it goes forward at a slow pace, he presses it in reverse, and it shoots like a rocket.

Why on earth would reverse have more power than forawrds? Is it something wrong with the ESC or engine wiring (like, wrong way around or something)?

Thanks in advance.

the ESC probably need to be program, some radio also let you reverse the throttle as well.

In fact it could actually be that, I know what you're talking about. My current RC car has that. But seriously, it was weird. It's got a proper Tamiya ESC (-TEU-101 BK) so I don't think it could stuff up like a china import or anything. But I guess anything could happen if it hasn't been treated and maintained carefully.

I think an ESC upgrade is needed. the TEU101BK ain't all that good..

Can you give us a run down on what you got, From Chassis to Batts

Yeah it's alright mate; as you suspected it's wired backwards. TEU-101's go really slowly backwards, but have fast progressive speed forwards. Don't worry about it, just re-wire it when you get it;)

Chris.

Can anybody confirm this? Also, instructions on how to re-wire it would be great! Thanks

he probally means the wires (tamiya bullets) from esc to motor are the wrong way round making the reverse faster and the tamiya esc has a reset button on it which sets it back to standard;)

yeah, basically what I think is that the negative is in the positive and the positive is in the negative, thereby making it go backwards when it should go forward and forward when it should go backwards. All you have to do is unplug them and plug them back in proper.

I'm not too familiar with the ESC you have, but before you re-wire it, reset the ESC. if that doesn't work then maybe try the servo reversing on your throttle on the radio itself. I understand that it's not a servo that your reversing, but it might work in reversing your speedo. If all this fails then re-wire. Hope that all made sence. Good luck!;)
