RE: your drift tires!
I go down to lowes and buy a 2 ft piece of ABS plastic pipe(black). I then cut them 1mm wider than the width of my rims. 26mm rims, cut at 27mm. i glue them on the back side with CA glue

RE: your drift tires!
Well I go straight to the factory. I get the raw materials for abs piping and conduct laboratories in my science center and brew up 2" piping for drift tires...
C'mon...now. |
RE: your drift tires!
i used to one used yokomo single rings till i tried hpi t drifts
love the tdrifts now |
RE: your drift tires!
i like abs for the slower paced drifts and tamiya drift tires for the hi-speed drifts
|
RE: your drift tires!
I used to love ABS. Now I use Type-Ts for sessioning and competing. Abs is only ocassionaly now.;)
|
RE: your drift tires!
I also tried the new losi drift tires, they work pretty well imo

RE: your drift tires!
HPI T-Drift

RE: your drift tires!
go to the real drift tires man nothing compares to real drift tires you dont want dumb DIY stuff it's cheaper but ur car looks like crap
|
RE: your drift tires!
ive tried everything on my 2 yokomos. i use abs for slow drifting. groovy drift has a great section on how to make abs more controlable. it works great. i use yokmo single rings for high speed.
plain and simple |
RE: your drift tires!
Nothing slides like Home made ABS Tyres!!!
$4 for 32Tyres I cant Complain... |
RE: your drift tires!
i think if you drift on abs, it'll make you better. especially when you use regular drift tires
|
RE: your drift tires!
I go with scratchbuilt. at least I know where they come from and have ample access to all types of pipe.
|
RE: your drift tires!
I use HPI T-drifts, the drift WAY better than my ABS, and last twicw as long.:D
|
RE: your drift tires!
Yokomo Single Ring Drift Tires on one of my drifters, and ABS on my other. Waiting for a buddy of mine to hook me up with a set of HPI T Drifts.

RE: your drift tires!
I made some ABS ones but I don't really like them. They work OK but they look stupid, I think. They look way too low profile, and they suck over craks or bumps. I much prefer my foam tires wrapped in electrical tape, they have more bite so it's easier to get it to snap back into shape when you let off the throttle. Also they are way smoother over road imperfections, the foam absorbs alot of the little disturbances. The profile looks right and it has more ground clearance too. The only down side is that the tape wears out after about 1 IB4200 pack. It ain't hard to tell when you need more tape, you go from little traction to foam in no time. I'd like to try some drift tires. Does anybody know, will these fit a TC3?

RE: your drift tires!
Yeah I rounded them as much as I could. It's just very hard to find anywhere smooth around here. I don't like the way the suspension gets all of the shock with ABS, The foam takes alot of that out making for smoother drifts IMO, it just sucks re taping the tires all the time.

RE: your drift tires!
Umm I got some Drift Tires but I am not sure what kind of tires are they does anyone know?

RE: your drift tires!
I buy ABS pipe and cut the tires myself. Might pick up a set of T drifts.

o really? thanks, but are they good for drifting? and if the thing burned out do i just change the two lines in the middle?

RE: your drift tires!
For me, ABS and hard plastic tires like the T-Drifts don't have enough grip, especially
since I do a lot of high speed drifting and I drift with a Nitro TC3+, which has a lot more power than most electic cars. If you're running a nitro or a high powered electric, and/or you like the ability to do high speed drifts, or like the extra control from a little more grip, I'd recommend HPI Stage-D (slick) or A-Type(treaded). These tires seem more realistic also since they actually have some grip like real drift tires (which are actually sport street tires). If you're doing low speed drifting, or wanna slide reallly easily, then I'd recommend T-Drifts, they aren't that expensive, should be better than a home-made abs tire and they should still last a loong time. |

If you drift with a stock tc3 then I have more power than you. I run type t's cause then give my car low speed grip, but are still VERY controllable at high speeds. |
RE: your drift tires!
i like best my ABS over the stock tamiya drift tires...
