new to drifting
i just decided i wanted to start drifting...bought a nitro 4-tec, and drift tires. lhs tells me to lock up the front diff. doesnt make any sense to me, i think the car will drift fine without doing so...any input from you guys that have been drifting?? thanks

RE: new to drifting
Try it unlocked first then lock it and see how you get on
tbh i think it comes down to personal taste with locking diffs, some swear by it others dont ;) personally i drift fine without my diffs locked[8D] |
RE: new to drifting
with my rs4 i drift with a locked rear diff and a one way diff up front (technically that locked) and i personally like it. but like tiger said you should test both and see what you like.

RE: new to drifting
thanks guys, i will try unlocked first being thats the way it comes...how would i lock it up on the 4-tec?? lhs says crank the screw all the way down, another one says crazy glue...also can i break anything doing this? and once i lock it is it reversible?
thanks |
RE: new to drifting
i pritty sure that the 4-tec has ball diff's. if that is the case all you need to do is take out the diff, after taking out the diff there should be 2 sides of the diff (one for the left and right axle). there should be a screw inside one of the outdrives. after you locate that tighten the screw ONLY HAND TIGHT! dont crank on it because i think we all here have had experiences were we tried to righten so mich we broke the screw. then after that your all set. you can makes these adjustments accordingly, if you want it to slip more or less, its up to you.
the other way you mentioned is CA glue, with that i wouldn't advise you to do that unless you have a spider diff. another way you can lock it is like this, http://www.drccentral.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10175 . hope that help! :D |
