hey im new to drifting i owned a nitro truck made by cen not to expensive but i got rid of it and now i want a rc car to drift around for fun and around my parkinglot so i was wonder im not trying to blow three hundred dollars on one not just yet im looking like around maybe 200 and im also debating if i want gas or electric i was reading some post but cant decode the slangs lol if you can help would greatly apreciate it

A good start to drifting is, in my opinion, is a Tamiya TT-01. It's cheap and there are more then enough hop up options for it. But if you are looking for a car that is ready to drift right out of the box, I read that Yokomo makes something like that. The downside: Yokomo cars cost a lot. But any 4WD on road car can drift. All you need is some slippery tires.[sm=cool.gif]

Also, you should stick to electric when drifting. Nitros that drift burn out clutches and overheat the engine. That doesn't mean you can't drift with nitro its just not a good idea. Plus electrics have better response time.

Tamiya TT-01 is the perfect starting Block to get into RC Drifting...

There is not very much aftermarket support for that chassis because it is so new. I would say TT-01 but at least a TT-01D or the TT-01R the standard kit is pretty weak. Good Luck[sm=thumbup.gif]

hey everyone i found a car on tower hobbies and started to throw sum stuff in it can u give me your opinion the car is tamiya nismo r34 tt-01 kit

and for a remote i picked a futaba 2ph 2 channel am/2s3003 servos 67

and for battery i picked dura trax piranha 6 cell 1900mah

and for charger dura trax piranha fast charger everything all together is 216.96 should i stay with a 1/10 scale or 1 /12 wats the better choice size car

Well a few problems I see there. The R-34 Z tune kit comes with the basic TT-01 Chassis. You would be better off with one of the TT-01D kits. The radio seems fine but you only need one servo for an electric model so no need to get 2 really. And the charger and battery are also pretty weak. The batteries make or break the car so you will really want some better ones.

well i would like to get it but im on a fixed income can always upgrade wen i get used to drifting and get better and sell it for a better one you know what i mean will this be a good first set up or not realli

IMO the items you listed would not be a very good setup. You would be much better off saving up for a little longer and getting some stuff that will serve you well for a while. Especially the battery and charger.

Or you can get a setup that WILL suck. That’s the truth of it.

the most i can go is like 250 would that be enough for the set up you said in ur opinion ? and wat scale is a good scale 1/10 or 1/12 and what frequency should i get the remote in

You sure are full of questions :) But I guess that is one of the reasons this forum exists.

1. I have no idea how much the total cost would be but I think you can figure that out yourself.

2. 1\10 scale...

its the drift spec rx7 the battery u said and charger and the remote i picked and would this car have reverse in it or do i have to buyt that module im srry im full of qs never had one before

That seems fine but is it the radio with one servo or two? You will only need one servo with that kit.

There is no need for a reverse gear the ESC that controls the speed of the motor can simply make the motor turn in reverse. As for drift races this car should perform fine but it really comes down to driver skill and proper setup.

The E10 is a far better car than the TT01 and there's nothing needed to hop up. it drifts as is out the box. Yokomo also makes a GREAT kit, but it's pricey. If your money puts you between TT01/E10, I'd DEFINATELY go E10. Just a better car imo. Nothing wrong with the TT01, but the E10 is just better to me.

and, +1 to Fresh. It's really about driver skill.

If you get the tt01d, you shouldn't need any upgrades...and there's only so much you can upgrade on it. I think you'll need to lock the diff, but once you start putting money into upgrades, you're better off buying a better chassis. That's why I would suggest getting something better from start. But, I'm sure someone will post an upgrade list. As many TT01's as there are running around here...;)

yyou must not be looking good on ebay then.. because last night I found tc3's, tc4's, yokomo's, tamiya's, team xray...etc...etc..etc..

try modifying your searches a little bit...
