4-tec drifting
hi i live in dallas and have been looking into getting a drift car. Not really sure what to get, but i'm very familiar with traxxas cause i have a revo and i know that parts are really easy to find. Kinda leaning towards nitro cause my revo is, but like electric too. I know there are some experts here and thought this would be a good place to start..
What are your thought on the 4-tec electric or nitro// or even a different car with good support?? Thanks all in advance |

Hi m8 welcome to the drift forums as for the car most Tourers can drift its better to get a 4wd chassis if you can,the most important parts for drifting are the tyres use proper drfit tyres or ABS/PVC tubing as long as you motor has enough power (electric 19-23 turns is good) you shouldnt have a problem getting started.
Many will say nitros no good for drifting but you should run what you feel comfortable with,as nitro takes more setup and tuning i think that puts a lot of people off drifting with nitros ;) |

alright so a lot of people like getting the tt-01 because its a bit cheaper than the hpi sprint2drift but the tt-01 needs hop-ups for drifting, electric is probobly better for smaller drifts and can do so big sweeps and circles but nitro are bit faster and harder to slide (i think so at least) but i am assuming you got some cash if your paying for nitro fuel so i think investing in the HPI Sprint2Drift car would be a good choice, its around 300-350 but doesnt need any parts (except battery and charger) for that i suggest the duratrax 4200MAH 7.2V 6 cell it lats about 90 minutes on 1 charge in my HPI sprint2drift which is a good run time. plus getting the duratrax peak duel charger is a great choice charges the battery in 1-2 hours so get 2 of em and you set man, alright good luck and welcome to the forums.
by the way most people think the HPI is better but just dont have cash to get it tt-01 is great car too im just loyal HPI fan =) |

thanks for the info guys. Really looking to go budget on this on. I have a trx revo and love it. so thats why i would think traxxas again either 4-tec or 3.3 4tec sounds like most of you prefer electric for ease of use. I i'm kinda going that way too.. Will keep u posted on what i do.

I love traxxas myself for the revo... and the t-maxx... but it is my honest opinion.... compared to some of the other electric touring cars out there... there are way better choices than the 4-tec....
I just got a sprint 2 drift from hpi... and I think its awsome... real good qaulity... and there are a couple of hop ups you can do to it also... depends on what kind of money your wanting to drop... there is also the hpi's e-10 that is considerably cheaper and from what i have heard is a good drifter... but does not come with some of the goodies that the others do... I have heard great things about the hot bodies cyclone.. as well |

Oh boy. I guess I bough an older model than I thought.
I have the 4-Tec modified with a 9700kv and Sidewinder ESC. Talking about some 'Yeee Haw" power! Gets yr blood a going! I was wondering if anybody knew of a web site that sells different style bodies for the Electric 4-Tec. IE Camero, Corvette, Mustang, etc. Thought I might spice it up a little bit more. Perfer already painted, but unpainted ok too. |

Hey just now joining this form, but i would highly recomend picking something other than a 4 tec for drifting i know from experience. I have 4 tec that i drift with using PVC tires and its ok fun for a little bit but the response and chassis is just not built for drifting. From what i hear, TT01D is the way to go on the cheeper rout but if you have the money go for one of the yokomo drift kits. Personaly i dont think the traxxas 4 tec was the best choice for drifting.</p> |

i would use a 4-tec to drift, but no way the nitro!!!! get a electric, nitro hard to control wiht the tuning. trust me!!

Anything 4wd and shaft driven will work best.TT01,HPI E10, even the belted sprint 2 drift is good.

NiTRo's HaVe Their Advantages But SiNce YoUR NOw GEttiNG into The Hobby I'd Lean Toward the ElecTriC. For a Starter a HPi SPRiNT2DRiFT Is Pretty Gud. If you Gonna Go With NiTro My BEst Advice Is Dont Get THe 4-teC. YOu'll Hit a Curb and Break Off Axles, Control Arms, Everything Being Thats its MoStly PlaSTiC. ThatS Just ReaLitY. And I've Seen It HappeN too.
