Drift Tires?
I have a question about the life of drift tires. That being how long they last until you need to replace them? I've run about 5-6 packs through mine and there's noticeable wear on them and they seem a bit softer than when they were new. Is that normal or do my tires suck?

RE: Drift Tires?
first, what type of drift tires are you running? and motor
|
RE: Drift Tires?
Stock Tamiya drift tires that came with my TT01-D and 19t motor.

RE: Drift Tires?
the tamiya drifts are ok. id maybe recomend abs, hpi t-type or yokomo single rings. all 3 work well and have a good life span

RE: Drift Tires?
So your saying they are no good? I'd love to stop by the track but I'm not driving to NY hahaha. Although this summer I'd like to try both drifting and racing my Sprint 2. I want something that gives a good balance of both slip-n-grip. I've tried the Tamiya's on my TT01 and thought they slip too much. Right now I have electrical tape on my tires and I feel it works rather well. Although it would work better if I locked the diffs better. I've been looking at the Hpi Drift Tires but dont know if they are any better than the Tamiya's? I'm thinking they'll be just as hard. People say pvc works great but wont they be just like the Tamiya's?

RE: Drift Tires?
yokomo are rated the best tires for drifting, they are expensive and good. If you are a beginner in drifting you need to practice with pvc or a cheaper set of drift tires

RE: Drift Tires?
Home Made Poly's FTW...
Don't matter if it is a Stock Silver Can TT-01 or a Cyclone S with a 15x2T they will bust the tail sideways... Best thing about Home Mades You make them your self and the Average metre will make 33 Tyres for $4AUD you can beat that for Value... Sure they don't look as cool as a Set of Professional Drift tyres but there a damned side cheaper !!! And if you get the Green line Polypipe the Tyres have built in Camber lines so you can check your camber angles as you slide... |
RE: Drift Tires?
I'm not new to drifting and I've tried a couple different types of tire set-ups, but just never Yokomo's. I've heard a lot about them and would like to give them a try this time around. Had hard compound tires and tried pvc and found it was too much slip. I think with the little bit of rubber the yokomo's offer on the edges of the tire will help out a lot. SIRCC let me know what you can do for me about those rims/tires. Thanks, Joe

RE: Drift Tires?
hey, if your not raceing your car and just drifting for fun why not try going to your local hardware store and get some pvc pipe and a saw, cut your own they work just as good i would say and so much cheaper, infact there might be some on ebay pre cut and they look like tyers, thats where i got mine, i got 3 sets for about 20 bucks, thats just an option, its up to you.

RE: Drift Tires?
Im assuming you still glue the pvc onto the rim?
Also what size pvc fits, do you just take a rim to the hardware store and see what fits? |
RE: Drift Tires?
ye just take a rim with you, i dont think you have to glue them, you can get a tight fit and then you can change the tyre.
|
RE: Drift Tires?
if wheel is loose you put electrical tape around the rim
|
RE: Drift Tires?

RE: Drift Tires?
I've got a set of those Sushi tires from Ebay on the way. My cousin gave me a set of his a while ago and I love them! I never have any issues with traction or turning as the places I drift in are pretty small so I'm never going that fast. Just the other day my cousin picked up a 10 foot length of ABS piping and I think he got roughly 80 tires out of it. And it only cost him $6.50USD! That will probably be the route I take from now on, $6.50 for 80 tires...that's gonna be hard to beat.
