RE: FG COMPETITION drifting....
Dan, drift cars are all about body and looks. I had a project to turn one of my MCDs into a drifter, but got side tracked with other things, I may get back to it eventually. 4wd is much better than rwd for drifting, much more controllable. It was going to be a police viper. You can see it in this video, running on race tires, not even worn down and it still wanted to drift. lol.

RE: FG COMPETITION drifting....
take an old rim and measure the width then cut just regular white pvc to the width and glue and then you have a drift tire super simple and cheap lol i also use a hpi dbox it will allow you to go side ways at a higher speed and not wipe out also stiff front springs and soft rear that will get you sideways a little easier to. i love the large scale cars im looking into getting one within the next year

RE: FG COMPETITION drifting....
hey foxy i know they got more power then other cars but i also drift my 3.3 4 tec and trust me its faster then any large scale and i use pvc its about control and skill too i bet you could drift a large scale car with pvc ill try it on my buddies baja and let you know how it goes i also use my hpi rs4 3 evo that i converted to rwd and its not to much hard you just cant take such sharp angles im not trying to sound like a dick but anything is possible if you put effort you know
|
RE: FG COMPETITION drifting....
you do sound like a dick because the RWD discussion has come up before... and after many attempts with a few of my cars It cant be done.. you may get one or two nice drifts but nothing consective you cant repeat the same drift... and its not a question of if i can drift i tried this for three days and nothing... 4wd drifting I placed first in my local comp. Im not trying to sound like a dick but Pvc is ****house for nitro's also.. they overheat or dont go very far very fast at all... I suggest HPI type A drift tyre. they are built for nitro and high powered brushless cars... would def. get you in the right direction

A 1/10th $300 budget car park basher compared to a $4000 1/5th scale race car...The gasser is 7 times heavier, and the engine generates 10 times as much torque. Do you see why this is not gonna do it? Imagine putting pvc tires on a 300hp real car. It would just spin on the spot. My vid above is of a 4wd gasser drifting on rubber race tires, as you can see, just like the smaller scales it is much more controllable. I never said you can't drift rwd, of course you can if you have an unbelievably skilled controller hand, but 4wd is much easier, and pvc tires are a total waste of time. |
RE: FG COMPETITION drifting....
thanks for the feedback lads.

RE: FG COMPETITION drifting....
so anybody else around here try drifting with a l/s car???

RE: FG COMPETITION drifting....
I'm so sick of hearing people say that it's impossible to drift a RWD. It is possible. It's just not easy. You can be consistent with it too. It just takes time (more than a mere three days) to get it down. When I started drifting RWD's it was long before I had money to dink around with. I wanted to drift because I thought it looked cool. A Rustler was all I had. So I lengthened the chassis to make it more proportional for drifting, cut some ABS tires, and PATIENTLY learned the art of RWD drifting. Anyone can drift a 4wd rc car; and with little time, ANYONE can learn to do it well. Not everyone can drift a full scale real drift car. The same is said for a RWD RC car as well. But it CAN BE DONE, and it can be done WELL.

RE: FG COMPETITION drifting....
i agree with you man.
i have a video coming shortly that will make this one look silly, and this is an fg evo set up for proper racing..... http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...wink_smile.gif |
RE: FG COMPETITION drifting....
INSIDEout mate... All I can say is do a little video mate.. you think your so good at RWD... stop talking **** and prove it or shutup
|
RE: FG COMPETITION drifting....

so i have to agree bring on the vids lads.....http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...sn/biggrin.gif |
RE: FG COMPETITION drifting....
Guys don't get upset, just because some people can't do it, doesn't mean it can be done. If I had a digital camera I would post it on youtube and prove it can be done!. besides I can make a school bus DRIFT, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

ORIGINAL: AusDrifter18 INSIDEout mate... All I can say is do a little video mate.. you think your so good at RWD... stop talking **** and prove it or shutup Second, as far as video goes, that Rustler/whatever you would call it is long gone. I did that about 12 years ago. I beat that thing to non-existence. As far as RWD being enjoyable, I would say that it's more work than it's worth, but it sure does look cool to see a true to scale RWD RC car drifting like the real thing. Once I got my first 4wd car though, I never looked back |
RE: FG COMPETITION drifting....
i suggest you look at the ne wyokomo d-max.... check out rwd drifting action
