RE: Newcomer
Welcome to a great hobby! I can say you're further along than a LOT of people when they are just starting out. You have a lot of options, and I have a few questions. Do you feel like you are mechanically inclined enough to tackle building a kit? I'm asking this because you can save a lot of money on a high quality starter car if you buy the kit version of it. It's a kit by Tamiya called the TT-01d. [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0161p?&I=L7KSG4**]THIS[/link] is the exact package I have, and I love it. If you don't feel confident just yet to build your first car (which is entirely respectable), [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXRXV2&P=7]THIS[/link] Is the same car (different body), but it comes pre-assembled. The only thing you need for that one is a battery pack/charger, and you're set.
There are other good cars out there as well. I would say search www.towerhobbies.com, find a car that looks legit, then ask on here if anyone knows any firsthand information about it (just be prepared for mixed responses). Everyone will give you preference (I even did), just do your research, look for videos of specific vehicles on you tube, and find the car you HAVE TO HAVE. Once you have a car and a good open place to learn the characteristics of the car, then work on setting up obstacles to navigate through and learn controlled drifts. I find drifting to be the most fun when I have SOME FORM of a course to challenge my skills. Just throwing the car sideways in an open lot tends to get old quick. |
