Driftex DXPE - performs just as well if not better than T-Drifs and Drift Techs, the best part 12 for 16.99 and they last stupid long. The ABS smooth are really good too!

I've been making my own, and experimenting with the roundness of the edges of the tires. I've found that I dont like them as rounded as the ones in the pic. They work better for me when they are a little more squared. But I guess it also depends on the primary surface you're drifting on. My basement is just an unfinished, giant slab of smooth concrete.

The 1/4 radius edge is designed for black top (asphalt) anything smaller and your slide is affected, especially in a long sweep or a switchback. "Giant slab of smooth concrete" you've been blessed my brother!

are these thought to be even more slick than the HPI T Drifts? cus imo the t drifts are garbage, theyre far too tough of a compound, my car wants to do nothing but donuts. i almost regret having a bigger motor in my tt-01. still cant get the hang of these tires, but my old rubber slicks worked quite well.

drift with "rubber" slicks???? what size motor do you have that you can drift with a rubber tire? That is one monster motor. You said you find T Drift too hard a compound, you should try ABS. But seriously you probably will not like the Raikou DXPE either as they are very similar to T Drifts and Drift Techs. By you saying your car wants to do nothing but donuts, tells me you probably have to much power, either tone down the motor gearing or trim your throttle down on your radio transmitter until you can control the car.
Finding the right tire for you varies according to skill level, as skills increase even the hardest of tires can be drifted with control. For example met a guy today who ran circles around everyone, he would come out of a long sweep and switch back in the opposite direction into a tight turn beautifully. He had a cyclone with a really hot motor and had ABS tires, a recipe for donuts. But he had the best piece of equipment - a controlled finger on the throttle! Hope you find the right tire! |

Do you have anything that will fit over HPI LP rims? Same width just have bigger inside hole since the LPs are larger rims.

I always use sushi drift RC tires. 4 sets for 12 bucks. Free shipping. Just plain ol abs with rounded edges, but that's all you really want with a stock motor anyway right?

ABS is cheaper in price, but remember it wears way too fast. Polyethylene tires, may cost a little more but you will go thru a bunch of ABS tires before you wear down one set of poly. Low powered motors can spin these out just like ABS.
Poly tires run quiet and drift really smooth with control. Give them a try, you won't regret it. They ship free too. Yes tubing works with HPI wheels, check the [link=http://www.raikoudrifttires.com]RAIKOUDRIFTTIRES[/link] web site for mounting instructions. HPI LP rims, are they larger than 2" in diameter? |

yes, just about, the 35LP's are about 2" they have three sizes 29,32,35 I will bring a set to the track on Saturday

"just about" won't fit - if they are not 2" in diameter no drift tire other than their own will fit. I under the impression that 29,32 and 35 are wheel widths. Looking forward to checking this wheel out, thanks!

Just got my 3 pack. Looks good but other then being rounded and the grooves I'm really not seeing much difference then my home made ABS tires. They do look rougher on the inside but not sure how that will effect anything till I can run them. Was thinking with these I had a good chance of finding alittle more grip but know I'm not sure...

ABS is ABS no matter who makes them, the pipe comes from charlotte pipe company. So if you make them yourself at home or get them from internet stores they still are ABS, these however are foam core, a little bit rougher, but beware they still are slippery. An experienced drifter will notice the slight difference between the tire profiles they offer, I preferred the dual groove tire on blacktop.
Try this trick on one set of tires, the ones with the single grove, before you use them. I filled the groove in with a hot glue gun and it improved the grip, try it. Don't worry if the hot glue gets on the tire outside of the groove, after the glue dries, hold the car in place down on the ground and give it full throttle, moving the car side to side to wear the tire in and clean off the glue. If you're having a hard time controlling ABS you need to throttle down either by gearing or using your radio. Or if you want more control and longer tire life don't use ABS, use polyethylene, their DXPE tire. I have a set on my car for two months now, and I drift 3 times a week, at least 5 hours on saturday. These don't wear down easy, I hung up the ABS after using these. Let me know how it works out for you, best to you. |

I wish I could say my son liked the hobby as much as me but he is all about skating..lol He does go run with me most of the time but wants nothing to do with working on them. Really I dont want him to since thats my favorite part..lol
Really its a family thing. My wife, son, brother and his wife and son all get together every weekend with nice weather and play. |

Glad to hear the tyre's worked for you, for practice and drifting with low power motors ( stock ) I recommend ABS... If anyone has achieved the mastery of ABS they can control any other tyre, if you run a little more power, want long life from your tyre and a quite drift... I recommend DXPE, these tyres have the same performance as other major companies tyre and you get this performance at only a fraction of the cost. The material that is made out of Raikou Drift Tire is foam core abs... the noise is much more silent than the solid core abs that other people sell... and it offers a little more grip than solid ABS.
