How do drifting gyro's work?

I recently learned about the existence of drifting gyro's. Can anyone tell me how they work? I am more an aircraft guy, but I noticed that playing with a car keeps my instincts up to par. How about this gyro, could it be used on any conventional 1/10 scale electric car? http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...dProduct=10314

RE: How do drifting gyro's work?

its a gyro, and really does not help you drift, simply counter steers for you which is not always helpful
Good point it is more high tech gimmick for the ride. Bad point it changes the entire style of drifting and has limitations that the driver needs to get used to before hand. So if youre new to drifting, and starting out now, this would probably be helpfull, but if youve been drifting for a while.......be ready to "learn" to drift again............

How it works precisely.......I dont know

It helps with counter steer in a slide or staying straight. I tried one on a Rustler a year ago and didnt really notice anything really. Maybe at high speeds it would help hold straight but for drifting I dont see how it would help when your on off the gas and turning back n forth. I've thought about trying it again but then think I dont see alot of people or videos of people using them so makes me wonder if its worth it.

theres some youtube vids on drifting gyros, it just counter steers the first bit. personally to get the hang of it it took me a couple battery packs and it starts to flow, you figure out speeds and what more and less throttle really does in a drift.

it will counter steer for you - I used the d box and they work, it's adjustable, you can set how much it counter steers. But whats the fun in that, it's like riding a bike with training wheels. Better off without it, especially if you are starting out, you get use to this unit doing it's thing and you will not learn how to counter yourself.

That's the fun thing about drifting, keeping an out of control car in control
