I have been looking for a cheap bushless Motor/Esc combo for under $150 and i came across this and was just wondering if it is worth buying it.

RE: Has Anyone Tried This Motor?
had this system when I first went brushless, used and abused it for a long time. It ran really good but on large layouts it could not keep up with others who were running motors rated the same. The power rating is lower than advertised, some may say different, but when you drift with a bunch of guys on a regular basis you will notice the difference. Eventually sold it and upgraded to better quality.
For $150.00 you can get this system from Losi, it comes with a program card and software for the PC. I used this system for about a year and it worked fantastic, at first it had some glitches, it use to erase your program settings and go to default settings when you shut down and didn't use it for a day or two. Losi released an updated driver and I installed it an it took care of the issue. This is a really nicely built system, good quality and workmanship, not a cheapo import. Losi support is really good too. http://www.losi.com/Products/Default...rodID=LOSB9576 Castle Creation "Sidewinder" is also another great system for $150.00 I also run this system as well as the Mamba Max Pro (cost a little more, but I think it's a little too strong for drifting, good power burst but so so progressive throttle response) http://www.castlecreations.com/products/sidewinder.html These two systems (Losi and Castle Creation) when compared side by side with the yeah racing system are built much better. Wiring is good grade silicone not plastic, solid heavy guage multi strand copper. The yeah racing has less strands and the wiring on the motor is very stiff with plastic sheilding. Bullet connectors are good heavy guage material and soldering work is flawless. The body and end bells on the motors are heavy guage, mounting screw threads go nice and deep into the end bells, no worry about stripping them. the yeah racing end bells are thin. Like I said some will disagree, but I have compared them side by side and hands down Losi and Castle are brand names and have built a good reputation because their products are pretty solid. |
