Gryo for Drifting
I was surfing Youtube and saw an ad for the DBox to help control for drifting. It looks like a heli gryo setup and I did see someone post use a heli gryo.
Has anyone used one? I was think to try drifting. Should one start with this setup? I have a nitro NTC3 FT. and a spare gryo. |
RE: Gryo for Drifting
No just get some hpi t-drifts and put them on your rims a d-box is usually looked down upon it really takes away from the experience of drifting

RE: Gryo for Drifting
I see what you are saying. Thanks.
I just sarted reading this drifting section. WOW another art to master. Just like on road. dif's, camber, toe-in. Lots of dialing in. |
RE: Gryo for Drifting
It really does take away from the experiance and ppl who buy them regret buying them because with the $90 u spent for one, you could get a front one way and a pair of cvd's.

RE: Gryo for Drifting
Drifting with a gyro is like riding a bike with training wheels....you really are not riding the bike. The D Box will counter steer for you in the turns, sure you can turn the sensitivity down low but it's not the same as manually controlling your drift.
Don't waste the money on this gadget as you will outgrow it in a heartbeat and regret it. Put some time into the basics of drifting and in no time with practice you will be sliding and switching back in no time. |
RE: Gryo for Drifting
Agreed. I wanted to use one of my heli gyros at first but just practiced instead. Now i can drift on my own and the feeling of accomplishment is greater IMO

RE: Gryo for Drifting
Everyone at our track that is drifting is using a Futaba helicopter gyro , only one guy is using a D-box, (which is a gyro) I also have a el-cheapo gyro I got from Hobby Partz for like $12.00, and it works ok, but the wheels turn to the right while sitting at the starting line. They are fine when under way though.. We drift a circle track on carpet. I run a dirt track super late model body, which looks cool sliding around.

RE: Gryo for Drifting
Trust me drifting is not hard enough for the need of a gyro. My 7 year old brother drifts his stock sprint 2 fine. I drift a 9 year old nitro car with only spring spacers as adjustments. Practice and spend the 90 bucks on more batteries and tires.
