I just use a small pair of needle nose and push each side of the open end of the ring. it took me a min or two at first, but now I dont have any trouble.

hmmm waterproof electronics
think I might take a look at the manual to see what parts are different
mainly the electronics box, and see if it will mount up on the older model with no real mods. The traxxas one was a bit too big when I did it
that is like all I see that looks different the ESC even looks the same.
well RX box is HPI #107323 seems no one has one yet

I've been eyeing the HPI waterproof stuff on ebay for a bit....

HPI-SC-15WP
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HPI-SC-15WP-...item35b5dfdc4f

HPI 106211 (might work)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HPI-106211-W...item415d99c525
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HPI-SAVAGE-X...item5d30acf982

And the waterproof servo too.

And you know as soon as the new Wheely King is available, someone will buy some and take them apart to sell the parts on eBay.

honestly the SC-15 ESC I won't trust I had one after 100 feet you would have sworn I was driving a nitro with how much smoke it let out before frying, with a 27t motor hooked to it...

I hope these box'x HPI is making are small I have one traxxas waterproof box I used in a few diferent RC's but its too bulky, and the others I have on traxxas RC's have screw holes in the box limiting their uses to that RC (ok I could probably get creative but the room I have is usually limited in mounting )

Sorry to hear that. I've had nothing but good experience with the three sets of HPI esc and motors (27T).

I hear ya. But they do seem to be smaller.

well I have another WK diff housing, and parts coming
I'm going to try and make a 6wd wheely king
Saved a lot of cash seeing I was looking at the parts list and the wheely kings diffs are the same as the ones in the MT1/mt2 (which I have 4+ sets sitting around) so I only needed the casing
Still not 100% sure how I'm adding another axle to the rear of the king but meh it all works out in the end

Dude, that sounds very cool! Check out the Tamiya tractor trailers for some ideas on how to connect the two rear axles. Maybe looking at the instruction manual to one of those models will give you a better idea, but you might end up having to get one or two custom pieces made to really make it work. Keep us posted.

On another note, I just got my roll cage and 32 pitch main gear from Snoopmaxx. I will post pics soon.....

Actually already made the one axle that has the input, and output to the next axle. I'm now just waiting for the rest of parts to come(ordered them this morning) before I start trying to design, and fabricate a chassis extension which I'm planning to screw it on where the wheely bar attaches seeing that won't be needed anymore. I'll be honest this has cost me quite a bit more than I thought it would so far... Think so far I'm over $60 in parts... that is without needing to buy the gears for the diff, shocks(going to use a set of MT2 rears I have laying around), or the aluminum plate that I'm going to re-use from a failed chassis design...

Tomorrow I'll probably start looking for the traxxas sliders I have laying around somewhere (from my butchered up stampede) so I can start the planning.
I'm doing all this in between working on converting my slash 4X4 to a pede 4X4(cost a hell of a lot less than adding an extra axle)

Yep, custom stuff is never easy but definitely worth the trouble when it comes out looking nice. Post some pics of your progress........

bah found out traxxas sliders off my pede's tranny won't fit so I had to order an HPI drive shaft [:@]
Hopefully this is the end of parts I need to order...
I wish their parts trees made sense cause I could have saved a good chunk of cash on this project...

Necroing this thread
Update on my WK finally got off my ass, cut the aluminum pieces and added the 3rd axle. The plates I made screwed in exactly where the wheelie bar screws in so no new holes had to be made. I had to grind the fake tubing flat to allow them to screw on flat though. Also used MT2 rear shocks for the back axle (had them laying around)
Had to make the slider a little shorter due to miscalculating the distance a tiny bit between axles which was causing binding when the middle axle's shocks had to compress.
outside that minor issue the little bit I drove around the house it worked quite well. Now to get another waterproof radio box to put on it along with a body. Might go to the LHS tomorrow to see if they have anything I can use.

I have to admit that looks sweet. Post when u get the body figured out. I've been resurrecting my WK as well. Waiting on some steel center dogbones for the center drive shafts.

Get out of here! That's one of the coolest I've seen onRCU! Please, make a video of that thing in action. I want to see how well the two rear axles work together. I would think that when 1 axle is compressed and the other is extended the drive shaft between the two may telescope too much and pop out.

Regardless, Kudos!

well that does happen if I bottom out the rear one completely, but honestly that shouldn't happen in normal use seeing I was slamming it into a hard surface, and from the force I used it didn't go even half way due to the tires absorbing most the impact (no foams) + seeing its stock brushed there's no way in hell it will catch the air needed to do it if I hit a ramp of any type

Been throwing bodies I had laying around on it for a guess at to what I'll need seems a HPI Savage Grave Robber body looks pretty badass on it, just having issues trying to figure out how to mount it seeing I need to boost it up 3 inches to clear the wheels. A HPI MT1 body was like 1/2 an inch too short or it would have been perfect

Well got a Pro-line truggy body for it. Wish they had a school bus, or a hearse in stock at my LHS
Ran it for 15 mins or so today handles pretty good. I might lock the diffs though it did have a little problem with climbing up the curb (as video will show) due to the snow being powdery and one wheel slipping.
Only problem I have with the body I got is not so much with the body itself, but how the mounts go front back(didn't pay attention to that when looking for a body) so the big bump in the front makes it VERY hard to put the body clips in.

Also sorry bout the video it was done on a camera I taped to my controller
