Default Why does the Slash 4x4 Have Different Shaft Ends??

I completely blew up both bearings on one side the driver side rear hub carrier. Upon dismanteling I noticed the driver side cannot fit standard sealed bearings I had laying around no matter what size. The center hole just won't pass through!

The passenger side rear has no problems at all. There's these two spacer looking things that prevent the bearing so go all the way in.

driver side rear

passenger side rear

What sucks is the Traxxas Slash 4x4 manual doesn't tell me parts! And their website apparently doesn't have manuals now?

just buy another passenger side rear and be done with it.

They look the same length by eyeing it up so measuer them and if they are the same except for the flanges then buy two passnger sides and replace them.

(if you only buy one i could work too but one side might be a little bit looser than the other side idk)

THIS is why I freaking love RCU! I post at 3AM and I already got 2 very helpful replies in 4 hours time. If someone could also provide me with an exploded view of the rear hub assembly that would be awesome!

I tried to google it but can't seem to turn up. I know all LHS have that book. Anyone know where is a soft copy?

I found this on Amain....was my Slash PE the only one that has that weird flange thing on the driver rear hub?

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...aft-Assembly-1

It says can be used in either left or right rear sides....

Well I should say that I got mine used. May be the reason mine is the same on either side.

Here is a couple more parts things. Hopefully something will help.

If those are he upgraded axles. I would buy them.

These look nice also.

That looks like the inside ring on both the bearings. Your bearings came apart and the inside is still on there.

Thank you for that mc4798! Exactly what I was looking for! And yes after looking at the schematics you're right rc person 577 both shafts should be the same part number.

Time to see if I can yank those out of there lol.

I'll have to agree , the bearing race it still on the axle, you need to remove it , then it will slide right through your carrier.

those aren't spacers those are parts of your broken bearings. They should be able to be pried off, if not you'll need a new stub axle.

Okay I pried removed the inside of the old bearings out now and reinstalled new sealed bearings I ordered from eBay awhile back. Now when I hand roll it and immediately pick up the truck the rear driver side tire slows down noticeably faster than the other 3 that are still free rolling with the original bearings.

I thought maybe the new bearings I replaced are of poorer quality? I then relubed them and still the same thing.

When the truck is in motion it's fine. The tire doesn't seize up or anything. When I hit the throttle it rolls normally as well. Can someone explain this?
